Welterweights Seeking Title Chance
UFC Fight Night Co-Main Event
Neil Magny and Daniel Rodriguez battle in the welterweight division on Saturday, and the winner could have a title shot on the horizon.
Magny is 26-10 and has had chances in the past, so he needs to knuckle down and get past the 17-2 Rodriguez, who has looked impressive since arriving in the UFC.

The sportsbook has Magny as the favorite, which is surprising. Stay tuned as we’ll be covering the most important UFC fight card and we’ll also be sharing our UFC predictions for the upcoming tournaments.
Magny Searching For Answers
Inconsistency has plagued the career of Magny, who defeated Geoff Neal last year before being easily handled by Shavkat Rakhmonov with a second-round submission.
Bettors never know what to expect from the 35-year-old, who has the size edge over Rodriguez, so he could use that to his advantage.
He also has wins over Robbie Lawler, Jingliang Li, and Carlos Condit, so he has beaten some quality fighters. That can’t be overlooked but we think he needs to rise to another level at this stage of his career.
The potential -125 in the UFC odds is too short for our liking, but Magny is a mainstay on the UFC main card, so he’s respected and he can’t be discounted as a winning chance.
Rodriguez Enters With Doubts
This fight was originally scheduled three weeks ago, but Rodriguez pulled out with an infected elbow.
He hasn’t been given much time to get over the injury, which is a concern and we think that’s why betting online markets have him as the underdog.
“Got a little bit of bad news,” Rodriguez told MMA Junkie. “Woke up this morning, elbow throbbing. I got this in the last fight and it kind of spread. So it looks like I’m out of the fight.”
We’re going to assume he’s fully fit and ready to go because Magny isn’t someone you want to face without being in prime condition.
Rodriguez has similar form lines to Magny after defeating Li at UFC 279. He has wins over Kevin Lee and Mike Perry as well, so he has beaten some tough nuts.
If there were no injury clouds hanging over his head, we think he would have opened as the -130 favorite. Rodriguez is more on the rise compared to Magny, and his career progression is bright.

Magny vs Rodriguez Betting Lines
Magny vs Rodriguez Prediction
There should be an even split of betting action in the co-main event. We see pros and cons for the fighters, but we’re trusting Rodriguez is ready to go.
He is on the up and we don’t think Magny will rebound well enough following a submission defeat.
The odds for Rodriguez are worth taking and they could shorten on UFC fight night.
Neil Magny is listed at -125 in our “Vegas NFL lines.” This means that if you wager $100 on Magny, you have a chance to win $80. Daniel Rodriguez is -105, offering a chance to win $95 on a $100 wager.
The implied probability attached to the betting lines gives Magny a 55.56% chance to win, with Rodriguez at 51.22%.
