Hands Will Be Thrown
There are no guarantees in MMA, but we are sure Paddy Pimblett and Jared Gordon will be throwing hands with high frequency on Saturday.
Pimblett is one of the sport’s biggest stars and he has a cult following, which translates to UFC betting markets. He is the -250 favorite to beat Gordon, who is a worthy contender in the lightweight division.
Pimblett Loves Finishing
Pimblett has had only three fights in the UFC, which is lower than most think. It feels like he has been fighting in the UFC for years, such is the impact he has had.
The confident Brit kicked off his year with a knockout win over Luigi Vendramini before submitting Rodrigo Vargas and Jordan Leavitt.
His style opens him up to potentially getting rocked, but he’s explosive and he’s must-see TV.
At 19-3, the 27-year-old has been an excellent wager, but bettors will have to take short odds for the foreseeable future. He’s the -250 favorite to beat Gordon, who is a tough fighter with 19 wins on his record.
“I’m still climbing the ladder. And I’m not going to start demanding fights with anyone. I’m not going to mention anyone’s name. People talk about me. Every fight’s a step up. There’s no easy fights in the UFC. It’s that simple,” Pimblett told Sky Sports.
“There’s no gimme fights. Jared’s 4-1 in his last five. His last defeat before that was the former champ Charles Oliveira, Charles finished him in the first round and I aspire to be champ.”
Betting online markets are likely to take money for Pimblett because of his popularity. He has a massive following and he’ll come out guns blazing at UFC 282.
Gordon Grinds it Out
Gordon isn’t the most exciting fighter after winning most of his fights via decision, but he might not have a choice other to attack Pimblett.
His opponent will come at him full steam ahead, so we could see a more aggressive Gordon and he earned his spot in this fight with a win over Leonardo Santos.
Our main gripe with Gordon is that he typically gets beaten by the better fighters. He lost to Oliveira and, more recently, Grant Dawson, and although Pimblett isn’t there yet, he’s well on his way.
That’s reflected with his UFC odds of +200. He is being respected because of Pimblett’s wild nature, but he’ll need to pull something out of the hat to get the victory.
