Bout Headlines Bellator 286

Featherweights Collide

Bellator 286 is headlined by Patricio Pitbull vs Adam Borics, which pits two of the best featherweights against each other.

UFC odds have Pitbull at -145 to improve his record to 34-5, but Borics is a promising Hungarian who could test the Brazilian.

Pitbull Looking to Bite

Pitbull suffered a setback in his first fight against A.J. McKee, but he bounced back beautifully with a win in April.

The unanimous decision win in the rematch earned him the main event spot, and the 35-year-old is one of the more well-rounded fighters in Bellator.

Of his 33 wins, 11 have come by KO or TKO, 12 by submission, and 10 by decision. It’s a good mix, so Borics will have to be wary of getting knocked out and submitted.

However, Borics believes Pitbull is nearing the end of his career.

“In the beginning of his career, he was a different fighter (than) right now,” Borics told MMAJunkie. “But I understand. I was very different five years ago. We just get better always. I think the time is working for me, because I’m getting better every day. Maybe, he’s like 35 or something. Everybody knows he’s at the end of his career.”

Borics has a point, but Pitbull’s win over McKee was no fluke. He battled for five rounds and that’s not easy to do against a formerly undefeated fighter. McKee was 18-0 before the loss to Pitbull, so put some respect on his name.

The sportsbook believes Pitbull will win, but they’re predicting a close fight.

Borics Stacking Wins

Following his first career loss to Darrion Caldwell at Bellator 238, Borics has scored four consecutive wins.

They all came by decision, which is a slight concern as seven of his 18 wins have come via the judges. We’re not sure if he’s good enough to outwork Pitbull, so he might need to score a finish on Saturday.

However, the 29-year-old has been beating quality fighters and his most recent win came over five rounds. Bettors could see that as a negative, given that he has competed over five rounds only once compared to Pitbull’s six.

His lack of experience in going the distance could mean he needs the knockout. The +115 betting online underdog has earned respect from bookmakers, but this is his biggest test and we’re unsure if he’ll handle it.

Pitbull has been there and done that, and he couldn’t have been more impressive in winning his most recent fight.

That’s at the forefront of our minds and the -145 is worth taking.
