Bruno Silva vs Chris Weidman Prop Betting Preview

Chris Weidman, aged 39, isn’t the “All-American” who once dethroned the formidable Anderson Silva and sat atop the 185-pound weight class with the crown. Following a nine-year span involving seven losses, a broken leg, and just two wins, it’s surprising to see the old dog continue at this level, and it makes me begin to question his reasoning for remaining in the sport.

Brazil’s Bruno Silva gave Alex Pereira one of his toughest challenges to date, and despite losing, he didn’t succumb to his fellow Brazilians’ world-renowned one-touch knockout power. This gained him instant hype, but said hype was crushed when Gerald Meerschaert tapped him, and he’s won just one of his previous five contests since the “Poatan” clash in 2022.

UFC Atlantic City Best Prop Bet 1: Silva By KO, TKO, or DQ [-135]

To the surprise of absolutely nobody, the current UFC betting odds are fading Weidman. At this point, the opponent is irrelevant because there are too many concerns about his durability, having lost seven of his last nine bouts, with six of those clashes ending via KO/TKO.

Silva hasn’t been uber-impressive lately, but unlike Brad Tavares, who defeated Weidman via decision last August, the Brazilian can crack! His punching power doesn’t bode well for a fragile Weidman, and before the UFC legend can get his wrestling going, I envision a nasty Silva combination forcing the referee to stop the contest.

Silva By KO/TKO Supporting Trends:

  • Silva has won 20 of his 23 pro MMA wins via KO/TKO
  • Weidman has lost via KO in six of his previous nine UFC bouts

Sedriques Dumas vs Nursulton Ruziboev Prop Betting Preview

Some would suggest Sedriques Dumas is being thrown to the wolves this weekend, but the Florida native bounced back with consecutive wins in 2023 after losing his UFC debut to Josh Fremd via guillotine choke.

On paper, Nursultan Ruziboev looks like a cliché foreigner with an impressive pro record (33-8-2) but with a lot of record padding via the Central Asian fight scene. However, as a +175 underdog versus a 10-0-0 (10 KOs) Brunno Ferreira, he flatlined the Brazilian and instantly gained respect as a potential prospect.

UFC Atlantic City Best Prop Bet 2: Over 1 ½ Rounds [+115]

The UFC odds for March 30 are expecting another dub from the Uzbekistan native, but you never know in a battle of prospect-versus-prospect. While Ruziboev is a huge middleweight at 6’5”, you’ll notice that most of his opponents have surrendered a significant discrepancy in size, which won’t be the case with Dumas.

Dumas mostly likes to exchange on the feet, and at 6’2”, he won’t give up as much size as Ruziboevs’ past opponents. This isn’t a path to victory, but I believe he can hang with a fighter in Ruziboev who’s barely fought outside of round one.

Both fighters boast a level of durability we can respect, but because of Ruziboevs’ career, which includes 11 knockout and 20 submission wins, the over 1½ presents plus money. Whenever the Uzbek has gone the distance previously, he’s lost six of eight, which is food for thought, but the total going over is ultimately where I see the value.

Over 1 ½ Rounds Supporting Trends:

  • Dumas has gone the distance in three of his last five pro-MMA bouts
  • Dumas has seen over 1½ rounds in all three of his UFC bouts
  • Ruziboev opponents have generally been 6’0” or under
