Heavyweights Bang at UFC Fight Night
Saturday’s UFC fight card is headlined by Jairzinho Rozenstruik vs. Jailton Almeida, which pits two bruising heavyweights against each other.
The sportsbook expects a big performance from Almeida, the -500 favorite, but there could be value with Rozenstruik, who puts out fighters with one punch.
It’s a fight good enough to feature on the main card of a pay-per-view event, so we’re excited.
One-Punch Power
UFC Fight Night betting markets might have Rozenstruik as the underdog at +350, but given his one-punch power, those odds could be worth taking.
Rozenstruik, a 35-year-old heavyweight hailing from Suriname, possesses an awe-inspiring power that intimidates most of his peers in the Octagon.
In his last fight, he decimated Chris Daukaus with a crushing knockout in just 23 seconds, and despite his impressive record, sport betting odds have Rozenstruik as the massive underdog.
Rozenstruik’s unique talent lies in his ability to end fights with a single punch. All it takes is one well-placed blow to Almeida’s chin and the fight could be over in the blink of an eye.
Knockouts are common in the heavyweight division, and fighters often live by the sword and die by the sword. Given this reality, Rozenstruik’s odds look even more favorable.
Despite suffering a knockout loss to Alexander Volkov in June of last year, Rozenstruik has not given up hope of becoming a title contender. Rozenstruik is focused on his ultimate goal of facing Jon Jones for the title.
“I’ll say to the top five [in the rankings]: Don’t get too comfortable. I put a lot of work into what I do. After a few fights [not winning)], I’m back in the win column and I’m looking forward to more,” Rozenstruik said.
Grappling Advantage for Almeida
UFC odds have Almeida favored because of his grappling advantage, so if he takes the fight to the ground, it could be over quickly.
However, the gambling online line of -500 is very short, and it could be tough for bettors to find value.
Despite being unbeaten since his UFC arrival, the 31-year-old heavyweight has yet to face top-tier opposition.
He began his UFC journey with a first-round submission win over Anton Turkalj in 2022, followed by a second-round knockout victory over Shamil Abdurakhimov at UFC 283. However, these names do not belong to the upper echelon of the heavyweight division.
Rozenstruik is a formidable opponent, possessing a considerable size advantage and immense knockout power. Closing the distance against him won’t be easy for Almeida.
Fighters like Almeida often garner significant hype, but he remains one of the most dangerous heavyweights in the game, and his confidence has not wavered.
“We’re one step closer and I see that the company is working with us. The UFC has been enjoying my fights. There’s not another heavyweight who is built like me, with my style. The UFC prioritizes that and they want to see me at the top,” Almeida said.
If Almeida wins the first round, Rozenstruik will need a knockout. UFC Fight Night Live betting markets will firm Almeida’s odds to around -1000 should he win the opening round.
