UFC 271: Pocket-Filling Parlay

Fighters from Down Under Could Dominate Saturday's Card

It’s a stacked card for UFC 271 and there are four fights that bettors should have on their tickets.

Fighters from Australia and New Zealand could dominate the card, including the likes of Tai Tuivasa and middleweight champion Israel Adesanya.

UFC 271: Parlay to Fill Your Pockets

UFC betting odds have generous lines available and they’re worth including in your parlay.

Roxanne Modafferi vs Casey O’Neill

You have to give credit to Roxanne Modafferi for always taking hard fights and giving it her best. However, she could be up against it on Saturday.

Casey O’Neill is a rising star in the flyweight division after going 8-0. The 24-year-old lacks the experience of Modafferi, but the Australian has been tearing through her opposition.

She knocked out Antonia Shevchenko in October, which followed a submission victory over Lara Procopio. It showcased her all-round skill set and it bodes well for her future in the UFC.

The sportsbook has O’Neill at -400, which is worth including in parlays, but we’re confident that she can end the fight early. Bettors get +175 for O’Neill to win via KO, TKO, DQ or submission, which is a great price.

Pick: Casey O’Neill by KO or Submission +175

Carlos Ulberg vs Fabio Cherant

New Zealand’s Carlos Ulberg made an impression when winning his Contender Series fight in fine style, but his UFC debut didn’t work out.

The City Kickboxing representative was knocked out in the second round against Kennedy Nzechukwu, which was a shock result.

Ulberg fought with his hands down and paid the price. We’re banking on that experience being a steep learning curve and he could show his true potential against Fabio Cherant.

Ulberg has the significant reach advantage over Cherant (7-3), who comes off consecutive losses to Alonzo Menifield and William Knight.

Cherant didn’t make it out of the first round in August and that could be tough to bounce back from, especially against someone with the power of Ulberg.

The New Zealander is paying -280, which boosts parlay payouts.

Pick: Carlos Ulberg -280

Derrick Lewis vs Tai Tuivasa

Bettors should expect fireworks when Derrick Lewis and Tai Tuivasa fight on the main card at UFC 271.

It could be one of the most entertaining heavyweight fights of all time and we think Australian Tuivasa could pull off the upset.

The man who has become famous for drinking out a shoe following his victories is taking the world by storm, so Tuivasa could rise to another level.

He’s even considering drinking out of Lewis’ cup if he’s successful.

“Well, he can throw it to me when I win and I’ll do a cuppy out of his ball guard then,” Tuivasa told MMA Fighting. “I’m keen.”

Tuivasa’s knockout win over Augusto Sakai was thrilling and there’s more where that came from. He has explosive power and he’s improving with every fight.

Having a significant reach disadvantage hasn’t stopped him in the past, and although we respect Lewis, there is more value in betting online markets with Tuivasa.

Pick: Tai Tuivasa +150

Israel Adesanya vs Robert Whittaker

The main event of the evening sees New Zealand’s Israel Adesanya look to remain perfect in the middleweight division against Australia’s Robert Whittaker.

Adesanya made Whittaker look second-rate when they last met and we can’t see much changing.

The Kiwi lost to Jan Blachowicz when rising in weight to light heavyweight, but that loss shouldn’t be used against him. He’s still the best middleweight in the UFC and by some margin.

Whittaker comes forward and the former champion deserves his rematch, but we don’t see how he’ll land the big blow on Adesanya, who has some of the best defense in the UFC.

Bettors have to take -300 for the current champion to win, but he’s one of our UFC best bets for the card.

Pick: Israel Adesanya -300
