Muhammad to Finish Burns
UFC 288 betting markets are underrating the talent of Belal Muhammad, who is the underdog against Gilbert Burns in the co-main event.
The 22-3 fighter has yet to fight in 2023. That is unlike Burns, who has had two fights, but Muhammad is fresh and ready to fire.
He couldn’t have looked more impressive when knocking out Sean Brady at UFC 280 in the second round. Brady had only one loss on his record, so it’s a quality win for the Chicago native.
Burns has had the benefit of two impressive fights this year. However, he fought in April, so his body could be tired. He wants more fights, but at the age of 36, the body doesn’t always respond well in the Octagon.
The sportsbook has Muhammad at +425 to win by KO, TKO or submission. It’s an excellent price for one of the highlight fighters on the card.
UFC President Dana White guaranteed the winner of this fight gets a title shot.
“One hundred percent … yes, the guy who wins this fight will get the next shot (after Covington),” White said.

Women’s Feature Going the Distance
We’re intrigued by the Jessica Andrade vs Van Xiaonan fight, which features on the main card at UFC 288.
Andrade is a former champion who has class on her side, but Xiaonan is 16-3 and confident of pulling off an upset.
We give the edge to Andrade and we think the fight goes the distance. It’s only a three-round fight, and although they both have knockout and submission prowess, it could be a stalemate.
Xioanan believes a title fight is hers should she beat Andrade.
“If I beat Jessica, I hope to fight for the title. I believe I have the strength to challenge for the title,” she said. “Right now, I want to win my fight next weekend. After that, I want to fight for the title.”
They are evenly matched, but the Brazilian has been in this situation before and handled it well, whereas Xiaonan hasn’t. That could be the difference for the strawweights, and there is good value with online gambling lines.
She pays +190 to win by decision, which is better value than -170 for the fight to go the distance.
