Shara Magomedov vs Michal Oleksiejczuk: Expect Violence
Let’s take a moment and pour some beer into the ground for Nick Diaz versus Vincente Luque because, sadly, this originally scheduled co-main event was canceled from the UFC Abu Dhabi card.
The good news is that a replacement fight between Shara ‘Bullet’ Magomedov and Michal Oleksiejczuk feels like a recipe for violence. While we can certainly claim these unranked foes aren’t penultimate fight card placement worthy, they’ve shown little reason for us not to believe this fight won’t deliver a savage ending.
With a combined 32 pro-MMA wins, 25 of Michal and Shara’s fights were knockout victories. They’ve competed in 40 contests overall, and 33 (win or lose) ended inside the distance. If there’s one fight where we should expect violence, it would have to be this one!
Parlay Pick: Fight Doesn’t Go the Distance [-250]

Does Oleksiejczuk ever go the distance?
The current MMA odds at ‘America’s Favorite Sportsbook’ BetUs favor ‘Shara Bullet’ to get the victory, and when an undefeated Russian (13-0) steps up to the plate, it’s hardly a surprising set of odds to see.
Considering his lack of experience and Michal’s dangerous hands, it’ll be interesting to see how he fares, but we don’t care about the expected winner because we’re banking on brutality. These two men are going to trade, and history tells us that somebody will sleep.
Almost 100% of Michal’s pro-career fights have been won in round one, and a plethora of those fights that entered the second round resulted in him losing inside the distance. He’s a forward pressure menace with noteworthy power, and he’s facing a kickboxing style in Shara that’s capable of punching, kicking, or elbowing his foes into unconsciousness.
Betting on this fight to end inside the distance is a no-brainer. Considering I expected such a betting line to sit around -350 to -400, the -250 price tag is the perfect parlay addition for us this weekend.
FDGTD Supporting Betting Trends:
- Shara has gone the distance in just 2 of his 13 pro-MMA bouts to date.
- Oleksiejczuk has gone the distance in just 2 of his 14 UFC fights.
- Oleksiejczuk has won or lost in round one or round two in 23 pro-MMA matches.

Azamat Murzakanov vs Alonzo Menifield: Fading Thicc
A pair of top-15-ranked light heavyweight sluggers do battle in a UFC Abu Dhabi feature preliminary bout when the undefeated Azamat Murzakanov (13-0) tests himself versus a formidable knockout artist in Alonzo Menifield.
Naturally, the concern around Menifield is that he’s returning from a vicious round-one knockout after just two months of recovery. While he’s cleared to fight, most damage experts and MMA critics wouldn’t recommend such a turnaround, especially in the higher weight classes where fighters are more prone to knockout losses.
It is what it is, though, and although Menifield got obliterated via punches last time out, he’s no stranger to leaving opponents unconscious himself. In fact, the thick frame and meaty fists of ‘Atomic’ have been crucial in his UFC success, and in many instances, his punching power has saved him from defeat versus fighters who are more technical and well-rounded in their skill sets.
Unfortunately for Menifield, his Saturday afternoon opponent has one hell of a chin, an unblemished pro record, a 69% KO rate, and arguably a higher knockout potential than Menifield’s latest loss, Carlos Ulberg.

The Smart Moneyline Betting Option
The UFC betting odds are slightly juiced for a fighter in Murzakanov because he is untested as a ranked fighter, isn’t getting any younger at 35, and has struggled for consistency throughout his pro tenure. That said, as a parlay piece, I’m all for it.
However, Menifield is just as old, returns from a brutal knockout to face another potent finisher, and has additionally shown signs of cardio issues.
Interestingly, in all four of his UFC and Dana White’s Contender Series contests to date, Murzakanov has at least dropped his opponent once, if not finished them by KO/TKO. He also presents a huge KO threat in different areas, whether it’s a flying knee, standing TKO, or ground and pound.
As much as I respect Menifield’s experience, I don’t see how he topples the Russian brute outside of that one-punch potential. Murzakanov has slightly better volume, a more varied offense, and durability that’s never seen him get stopped inside the distance or even lose a single pro bout during his MMA career.

Question of the Day
What’s the main event for UFC Abu Dhabi?
Top-ranked bantamweight competitors Umar Nurmagomedov and Cory Sandhagen will throw down in this weekend’s UFC Abu Dhabi main event. An impressive win from either side could book a championship contention ticket to face the winner of Sean O’Malley and Merab Dvalishvili.
