2 Best Fight Night Parlay Picks

1. Bet Delgado vs Matthews to End Early

Two fresh faces to the UFC featherweight division will open Saturday’s main card. While the hype surrounds Jose Delgado, who’s won all of his pro-MMA bouts inside the distance, including a recent knockout on Dana White’s Contender Series, he will be making his debut. We know octagon jitters have plagued fighters in the past, so it’ll be intriguing to see if he can mitigate the pressure under Dana White’s bright lights.

On the other hand, we have Connor Matthews. Also, a DWCS alumnus as a New England Cartel representative, he’ll be fighting alongside his teammate Kalvin Cattar, so that’s always a plus. More imperatively, he’s already made the walk to the octagon, albeit a result (round 3 knockout) he’d rather forget.

I do believe the current UFC betting line should be closer than what’s available. I understand why Delgado is the favorite; he’s a violent chap who fights like a man possessed until his opponent is out cold or tapping.

However, Matthew’s losing his UFC debut doesn’t alter the fact that both fighters are very green. Although he doesn’t own the finishing percentage of his foe, he has sneaky power and submissions capable of ending this bout. Bet online for the fight to not go the distance.

No Judges Needed

I don’t want to touch either moneyline as a parlay piece for the aforementioned reasons. That said, no matter the result, it’s easy to see plenty of mistakes being made, thus heightening the chance of this fight ending inside the distance.

With Delgado’s 100% finish rate, coupled with Matthew’s punching power and jiu-jitsu game, mixed in with two inexperienced newcomers, give me a knockout or submission before the third-round finishes, and at -165, it’s arguably some of the best UFC betting odds value on the board for this particular fight.

FDGTD Supporting Trends:

  • All 8 of Delgado’s pro-MMA bouts ended by KO/TKO or submission
  • Delgado has finished his previous five fights in rounds 1, 2, or 3
  • Seven of Matthews 9 pro-MMA bouts ended inside the distance
  • Matthews lost his UFC debut by round 3 KO

2. Bet Against Rodrigues vs Cannonier Going the Distance

Jared Cannonier is a UFC middleweight division staple. Although he faltered at taking the 185-pound strap from Israel Adesanya many moons ago, he’s consistently fought against top-ranked guys and, for the most part, made a great account of himself.

Unfortunately, as we head into UFC Fight Night, a few red flags are beginning to show for Cannonier. At 41, the man who used to be unfinishable is beginning to look more frail, slower and less enthusiastic during his fights.

When I look at The Killa Gorilla’s recent two losses against Nassourdine Imavov and Caio Borralho, I see a man who was lucky to escape the latter and couldn’t handle the punishment in the first.

Of course, these names bear little shame regarding talent levels, but with Gregory Rodrigues up next, I believe it’ll have to be a knockout or bust for him to snap the losing streak because this opponent differs greatly from recent foes.

Rodrigues isn’t as technical on the feet as Imavov, and he doesn’t have the trustworthy durability of Borralho. Still, unlike those men, he’s a finishing machine that will force a fight from Cannonier. When the pace is pushed like “Robocop” pushes it, we often see the judges’ opinion get removed. Per Cannonier and Rodrigues stats, 16 of Robocop’s 21 pro career bouts ending inside the distance are proof of this.

Decision? No Chance

Imavov is cool, calm and collected. Borralho is more uptempo but less powerful. Rodrigues might be the least skilled out of the three, but he’s the most dangerous, and that’s what Cannonier will need to deal with when attempting to avoid a third straight loss this weekend.

Either way, I envision a firefight where one man is going to sleep for my UFC predictions. Considering the sportsbook betting odds are slightly juiced on this fight ending inside the distance, it would seem the oddsmakers have a similar opinion. However, that doesn’t mean there isn’t value on this line.

Rodrigues has displayed a questionable chin in the past; he isn’t going to sit back at range and point-fight; in fact, he’ll do the opposite. This will either be a gift or a curse, but no matter who finds the advantages, someone will sleep.

Not to mention, Rodrigues also has a BJJ black belt in his back pocket, including 8 jiu-jitsu world championship wins. We haven’t really seen it thus far, but if needed, he’ll choke Cannonier like a chicken.

FDGTD Supporting Trends:

  • Rodrigues has won or lost 6 of his 9 UFC fights inside the distance
  • Rodrigues has gone the distance in just 5 of his 21 pro-MMA bouts
  • Cannonier has won or lost 9 UFC bouts by KO/TKO
