Guida vs Puelles

UFC fans remember Clay Guida from his efforts on “The Ultimate Fighter” and the 40-year-old is having a career resurgence.

He has won two of his last three fights, including a submission victory over Leonardo Santos in December and a decision victory over Michael Johnson.

His experience is an asset, especially when facing 25-year-old Claudio Puelles. The 12-2 fighter from Peru has won both fights since arriving in the UFC, so he has to be respected.

His first win came over Jordan Leavitt before submitting Chris Gruetzemacher. However, he’s up against a 37-18 Guida.

“He’s a tough guy, a tough veteran, but I’m the new generation,” Puelles told MMA Junkie.
“I’m here to stay. I’m here to climb the rankings. He’s already on his way down, about to retire or something.”

The sportsbook has the fight evenly matched, but we give the edge to Guida and he could end the parlay on the right note.

Pick: Clay Guida -115

Barber vs De La Rosa

Maycee Barber might be a young fighter, but she’s hyped and continues to get spots on the main card.

The 23-year-old defeated Miranda Maverick in July and hasn’t fought since, but betting online markets have her at -190 and it’s a fair price.

She still has plenty of improvement, and after knocking out JJ Aldrich and Gillian Robertson in 2019, the world was at her feet. However, losing to Roxanne Modafferi isn’t a loss you want on your record.

She was giving off confident vibes when talking to the media this week.

“She can easily be broken,” Barber said. “She doesn’t like to get hit and that’s exactly what we’re going to do. We’re going to hit her and we’re going to break her.”

Looking to capitalize is Montana De La Rosa, who showed her knockout power when scoring a second-round KO over Ariane Lipski last June.

Her biggest problem is a lack of consistency, but the same can be said for Barber.

We’re expecting a close fight than bookmakers have framed, but we’re adding Barber to our three-fight parlay. She is a rising star of the flyweight division, so a win on Saturday is a must.

Pick: Maycee Barber -190

Wright vs Barriault

Jordan Wright is the distinct underdog against Marc-Andre Barriault, but we think bookmakers might have it wrong.

The 30-year-old has the size advantage in this matchup, so the +150 odds could be worth grabbing.

He was on the wrong end of a knockout result against Bruno Silva. The first-round knockout won’t be easy to come back from, but he showed his skills when knocking out Jamie Pickett at UFC 262.

Barriault also needs to bounce back from a knockout loss. He lasted only 16 seconds against Chidi Njokuani, so we’re not sure he reflects a -180 favorite.

Wright at +150 is well worth including as the UFC odds are right.

Pick: Jordan Wright +150
