My 2 Vegas UFC Parlay Picks for Nov 9
1. Reinier de Ridder vs Gerald Meerschaert: Grappling Fans Rejoice
Riddle me this, riddle me that, who’s afraid of the big “GM3”? The UFC’s latest acquisition, Reinier de Ridder, certainly won’t.
Although he might be confused with an Arkham Universe character, there are no riddles surrounding the debut of Holland’s Reinier de Ridder, who, unlike most UFC debutants, is more than accustomed to massive fights, winning championships, and long-term success.
As a former ONE Championship light heavyweight and heavyweight two-division champion, we know what the Ridder is capable of. Although Gerald Meerschaert has been an underdog bettor wet dream in recent years, his trusty jiu-jitsu offense is now faced with a championship-level BJJ black belt artist who also owns the same belt level in judo.
Bet This Pick: Ridder Moneyline [-300]

Fade the Slow, Plodding GM3
I’ll be honest: I’m not as hyped as most people are about Ridder. His cardio has been suspect in the past, and his striking offense isn’t going to survive in the upper echelons of the UFC middleweight division. However, GM3 is the perfect layup opponent because the UFC veteran has been reliant on submissions in 92% of his promotional victories, and now that aspect of his game will be nullified by a world-class grappler who’s danced with some of the planet’s best BJJ practitioners – Andre Galvao – and made an excellent account of himself.
Despite Ridder’s lack of offensive striking ability, GM3 is one of the slowest, least-talented strikers in the UFC. The newcomer has also been fighting against 205-lb and heavyweight opponents since 2019, so a 185-lb Meerschaert will be disadvantaged physically.
Sure, the MMA betting odds are slightly juiced for a debutant, but for me, I struggle to envision a world where GM3 can cause any significant damage. Sure, there’s a world where Ridder’s cardio fails him, but when every other aspect of the bout favors the newcomer, it’s hard to ignore his potential of battering the UFC vet in his debut – an outcome I may add that the UFC wants to play out.
Ridder Moneyline Supporting Betting Trends:
- Ridder’s only career losses came against an undefeated Russian heavyweight (Anatoly Malykhin)
- 15 of Ridder’s 17 pro-MMA wins came by submission (12) or KO/TKO (3)
- Meerschaert has lost 9 of his 21 UFC bouts
“A win is NOT enough in this one. The top dogs finish Gerald, and I want to prove I’m one of them.”

2. Gillian Robertson vs Luana Pinheiro: Canada Stand Up
The state of Canadian MMA has been dire since the retirement of GSP and Rory McDonald – apologies to my Great White North friends, but it’s true. However, not all is lost because 29-year-old Gillian Robertson has displayed a consistent evolution in her game, and although the 11-6 UFC record is far from perfect, she’s won four of her previous five bouts and has easily exposed the flaws of any women’s strawweight competitor who isn’t up to scratch.
What I love most about Robertson is her eagerness to finish fights. I don’t want to attack Canadians and women in the same segment, but facts and facts, and more often than not, WMMA bouts are destined to go the distance without a knockout or submission in sight. Robertson, however, has collected nine submission or KO/TKO wins from her 11 victorious moments in the octagon, with a clear spotlight on her wrestling and jiu-jitsu prowess that has forced seven UFC foes to tap out during her tenure amongst the elite.

Bet This Pick: Robertson by Submission or Decision [-225]
The Obvious Choice
It might feel like the obvious choice here, but backing Robertson to win by submission or decision feels like the best approach to beating the juiced moneyline at BetUS Sportsbook on our favorite Canadian cage queen.
To her credit, Luana Pinheirohas the athleticism and speed you’d want from a strawweight contender. However, she lacks power, cardio, and finishing ability on the ground, and watching Angela Hill have her way was an eye-opener. Especially considering how she suffered takedowns versus a striking-based opponent (Hill), which gave Hill her first-ever submission victory in 26 UFC appearances. Now, Robertson, known for her grappling and submission prowess, is prime to put a beating on the Brazilian in those same grounded positions before the neck becomes available and she sinks a choke!
The odds for our UFC parlay bet currently sit at -109.
Robertson by Submission or Decision Supporting Betting Trends:
- Robertson has won 9 UFC bouts by submission or decision (2 by KO/TKO)
- Pinheiro lost to Angela Hill by submission
- Pinheiro has lost two consecutive UFC bouts
“I don’t think she’s going to want to go to the ground with me.”
Gillian Robertson (@savage_UFC) looks to add another submission to her record against Luana Pinheiro at #UFCVegas100.
