2 UFC Prop Picks to Bet This Weekend

1. Mansur Abdul-Malik vs Dusko Todorovic

Mansur Abdul-Malik attended one of the best wrestling high schools in the United States. He didn’t achieve the heights expected of him, primarily because they had this 185-pounder fighting heavyweights. Now, as a pro mixed martial artist and at the correct weight class, he’s displayed an overpowering ground game and a level of athleticism that’s gifted him with incredibly heavy hands (5 of his 6 wins by knockout).

I have high hopes for Abdul-Malik. Although he’s only been competing in pro-MMA since 2021, all six opponents have been finished in round one or two, mainly through a vicious ground and pound reminiscent of Cain Valasquez or Shane Carwin (Shout out to my old school UFC heavyweight fans on this reference).

Bet This Pick: Abdul-Malik by KO/TKO [-165]

Elite Wrestling for the Win!

I understand why some bettors might regurgitate gastric juices at the sight of this UFC debutant online betting odds. Still, given Dusko Todorovic’s UFC tenure to date, I believe the promotion knows exactly what they’re doing by matching him up with Abdul-Malik, a prospect they’d love to evolve into a star.

With commendable cardio and jiu-jitsu and a striking game that’s seen him collect a 100% KO/TKO rate in the UFC (3), Todorovic is no slouch. However, watching Jordan Wright effortlessly find the takedown is a huge red flag because now he’s faced with an offensive wrestler who won’t just dominate in top control but also punish him with ground and pound.

  • Abdul-Malik has won all six of his pro-MMA bouts inside the distance
  • Abdul-Malik has won 5 of his 6 pro-MMA bouts via knockout
  • 3 of Todorovic’s 4 UFC losses came by KO/TKO

2. Denise Gomes vs Karolina Kowalkiewicz

A UFC women’s strawweight with a buzzcut? Take my money.

Brazil’s Denise Gomes hasn’t had the perfect start to life as a UFC competitor, but with the fastest KO/TKO in women’s strawweight division history, you had better put some respect on those hands.

Karolina Kowalkiewicz is a UFC veteran with nearly a decade of experience competing in the octagon. That said, the writing is on the record; she holds a 9-8 record for the promotion, is one year shy of her fortieth birthday, and despite owning a well-rounded skill set, it’s easy to fade her at the sportsbooks whenever she’s faced with young, hungry, up-and-coming talent who’s looking to use her name as a stepping stone.

Bet This Pick: Gomes by Decision [-135]

The New Generation

Since Ronda Rousey birthed the first-ever ladies ‘ division, chasing underdogs in women’s MMA has been a beautiful experience for bettors. However, it’s been twelve years, and a lot has changed. Veteran fighters like Kowalkiewicz are unquestionably placed in a passing-of-the-guard situation in each and every fight. To her credit, she took a five-fight losing streak between 2018-2021 and flipped it into a four-fight win streak (2022-2023), but there’s a huge difference between fighting Felice Herrig or Diana Belbita compared to the dangerous Gomes.

We know the kryptonite of Gomes’ skill set is takedown defense, but don’t believe that a grappling-heavy game plan like Angela Hill achieved is a viable path to victory for Kowalkiewicz, who, for the most part, hasn’t been a serious wrestling threat throughout her nine-year tenure.

Yes, the UFC betting odds on Gomes’ moneyline aren’t pretty, but she will hold an advantage in the striking area, especially regarding power and damage. It might not be enough to finish the durable Kowalkiewicz, but backing the Brazilian to win on the scorecards presents a much more viable price point.

  • 5 of Kowalkiewicz 8 UFC losses were by decision
  • Kowalkiewicz has gone the distance in four consecutive UFC bouts
  • Gomes has won 3 of her previous 4 UFC bouts

Our Favorite UFC Vegas 100 Prop Bets

  • Mansur Abdul-Malik by KO/TKO [-165]
  • Denise Gomes by Decision [-135]
