UFC 270 is packed with incredible fights, but before the main and prelim cards get underway, bettors can enjoy the early prelims.
UFC betting is available for every early prelim fight, including Michael Morales vs Trevin Giles and Tony Gravely vs Saimon Oliveira.
With five fights on the card, it’s a mouth-watering entree to the bigger fights later in the night at Honda Center on Saturday.
Tony Gravely vs Saimon Oliveira
Quality fighters end the prelim card as the experienced Tony Gravely takes on 18-3 Saimon Oliveira.
Gravely comes off a second-round knockout loss to Nathan Maness, but he looked much better when knocking out Anthony Birchak last April.
It was a quality introduction into the UFC, and despite suffering his first UFC loss in September, we like his chances of bouncing back against Oliveira.
The Brazilian is making his UFC debut after winning against Jose Alday in Dana White’s Contender Series in September.
We don’t often like betting on fighters coming off the Contender Series, so take Gravely to score a closely-fought victory.
The sportsbook has Gravely at -240, so he’s the firm favorite to get it done.
Pick: Tony Gravely -240
Michael Morales vs Trevin Giles
We’re excited for this fight as Michael Morales has the potential to be a successful fighter in the UFC.
The 12-0 Ecuadorian defeated a tough fighter in the Contender Series, and although those wins should be taken with a grain of salt, he showed toughness in the decision victory.
Prior to the win, he dispatched all comers with a flurry of punches. He has finished 10 of his 12 professional bouts, which makes him a fighter to watch.
Trevin Giles can’t be underestimated as he has the clear experience edge. The 29-year-old is not only older, but he has five years of experience in the UFC.
Giles has beaten the likes of Antonio Neto, James Krause and Roman Dolidze, but he has also lost to Dricus De Plessis and Zak Cummings.
It’s a tough fight to pick, but we’re going with the up-and-coming fighter. Morales looks to have a special talent and we’ll ride him to the bank.
He is one of our UFC best bets for the early prelims.
Pick: Michael Morales -135
Silvana Gomez Juarez vs Vanessa Demopoulos
There won’t be much between the strawweights, but we give the slight edge to Silvana Gomez Juarez.
She is 10-3 after suffering a defeat to Lupita Godinez with a first-round submission, but she has been given another chance to shine.
Vanessa Demopoulos went three rounds with JJ Aldrich at UFC Fight Night last August, but she was outclassed and we didn’t see enough to warrant selection.
Betting online markets are being cautious with this fight, but it’s safe to include Gomez Juarez at value odds. Getting +115 with betting online markets for the more seasoned fighter is an excellent price.
Pick: Silvana Gomez Juarez +115
Matt Frevola vs Genaro Valdez
One of the shortest-priced favorites on the undercard is Matt Frevola, who is riding a two-fight losing streak.
However, the 31-year-old American has been facing tough opponents and he has notable wins on his record. Frevola has beaten the likes of Luis Pena and Jalin Turner, so that adds weight to his record.
His loss to Terrance McKinney lasted only seven seconds, which he’s not letting it get him down.
“Stars aligned for him that night,” Frevola told Sherdog. “He perfectly timed two punches that caught me and put me down. Good for him, he seems like a good kid. It sucks he had to make his name off and knocking me out, but he did, and I’m happy for him, but we got to run that one back eventually.
“We didn’t really get to fight. He caught me, he got me, but I definitely think when we fight again, which we will, it will go differently.”
Genaro Valdez is 10-0, but the Mexican hasn’t fought anyone nearly as tough as Frevola.
His win in the Contender Series was impressive last May, but we expect Frevola to bounce back and win at skinny -190 odds.
Pick: Matt Frevola -190
Kay Hansen vs Jasmine Jasudavicius
Kay Hansen is the firm favorite to beat Jasmine Jasudavicius, despite giving away plenty of size.
The 22-year-old Californian is 1-1 in the UFC after beating Jihn Yu Frey, and that form stacks up well against her 6-1 opponent.
Jasudavicius has yet to fight in the UFC and her lack of top-level experience should count against her.
We expect Hansen to lock in a submission attempt and force the ref to step in. Take the short odds to kick off UFC 270.
