UFC 244 will go down as planned this Saturday, November with Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz going toe-to-toe for the inaugural UFC BMF Belt. What’s the BMF belt you ask? The Baddest Motherf*cker!
UFC 244: Masvidal vs Diaz
Saturday, November 2nd – 10:00 PM ET
Madison Square Garden, New York, NY
Network: ESPN+
Before even stepping into the octagon on Saturday, Nate Diaz already has another W to his name. After being notified of a possible failed drug test, Nate Diaz took to the Twittersphere to blast USADA for trying to tarnish his name. He even insinuated that the anti-doping organization suggested he remain quiet until after the fight to protect the UFC’s investment. The fight was in danger of being canceled, but here we are!
Jorge Masvidal (-170) vs Nate Diaz (+140) Preview
Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz are two brawlers whose grit is unquestioned. Regardless of who wins on Saturday, both are some BMF’s!
Jorge Masvidal News
Masvidal made his name fighting in the streets of Miami a la Kimbo Slice. He’s 33-13 as a professional and maybe next in line for a shot at the UFC Welterweight title should he win this Saturday.
Gamebred’s stock is at an all-time high. He’s coming off back-to-back KO wins over former welterweight title challenger Darren Till and former Bellator and OneFC Welterweight Champion Ben Askren.
Masvidal knocked out both fighters in impressive fashion, especially Askren, who he knocked stiff with a flying knee in just five seconds.
Jorge Masvidal also holds wins over the following BMF’ers: Donald Cerrone, Jake Ellenberger, and Tim Means, among others.
Nate Diaz News
Nate Diaz is one of the toughest fighters in the UFC — in and out of the octagon. He’s coming off a dominant win over former UFC Lightweight Champion Anthony Pettis. It was Diaz’s first fight in only three years.
Prior to his hiatus, Diaz went 1-1 against former two-division champ Conor McGregor. Diaz submitted McGregor on 11 days’ notice in their first fight. The rematch saw the two fighters go to a close decision that could have gone either way.
Diaz has an endless gas tank. He plods forward and throws pesky combos that wear down his opponents. He’s tough as nails and has an iron chin.
Diaz has a strong ground game — one that makes the opponent reluctant to jump into his guard. When you’re fighting to prove you’re the BMF, you do so standing.
UFC 244 Betting Pick
This fight is sure to provide action and fireworks. Masvidal and Diaz will bang it out as they did in the streets of Miami and Stockton.
MMA fans will be the real winners this Saturday.
I think Masvidal has more in his striking arsenal to hurt Diaz, so I’m sticking with Cuban Jesus.
All of the noise has been around the main event, but this is a sneaky good card.
