Aces Seek First Win Over Mystics
Playoff contenders will be facing off for the third time when the Aces head to Washington on Tuesday.
Both teams have already secured spots in the playoffs, with the Aces sitting strong at second in the league while the Mystics hold the fifth spot. Las Vegas had its spot clinched for a while after a strong season that began with the team winning nine of 10. Washington secured a playoff spot on Saturday.
Vegas has won its last five while Washington has won four of five, including splitting two games with Seattle.
Las Vegas will be looking to make it six in a row after Washington won the first two games between the teams this season.
Washington downed Vegas 89-76 on May 10. The Aces had a 49-36 lead at halftime, but a strong third quarter from Washington led the Mystics to a win. Elena Delle Donne led the team with 19 points.
The second game on June 25 was closer, going into overtime, where the Mystics eventually won 87-86. Kelsey Plum and Jackie Young led the way with 20 each for the Aces while Alysha Clark scored 20 and Delle Donne added 19 for the Mystics.
The third game should prove to be another close one with Vegas hoping to steal a game on the road.

With a number of double-digit scorers, the Aces have been leading the WNBA in scoring.
However, Vegas’ offense will be given a test against the league’s No. 1 defense in Washington, which holds opponents to an average of 75.3 points.
The Aces, led by Plum at 20.3 points a game and A’ja Wilson scoring 19.3 points, average 90.6 points to lead the league. Young and Chelsea Gray also contribute with 16.2 and 12.3 points, respectively.

Shakira Austin leads the Mystics with 6.2 boards and 0.8 blocks per game while Ariel Atkins averages 1.3 steals.
Home-Court Advantage?
While the game will be played in D.C., the Mystics may not get as much of a home-court advantage as they normally would.
The Aces have played well when playing away from home, owning a 12-3 away record. One of those three road losses was at Washington, which is 10-5 at home.
Vegas’ last three games were on the road, with two easy wins over the last-place Indiana Fever following a 93-83 victory over first-place Chicago for the Commissioner’s Cup.
Washington, meanwhile, recently downed fourth-place Seattle 78-75 at home a day after suffering an 82-77 loss to the Storm in D.C.
