Las Vegas Goes After 20th Win

Aces Eye Sixth Straight Against Seattle

The Seattle Stormare looking to snap a seven-game losing streak. Trying to do that against the best team in the league and a squad that could threaten to break the WNBA record for wins in a season is a little daunting. When looking at the WNBA predictions, the nine home losses by Seattle are the most in the WNBA.

A quick peek at some WNBA news reveals that the Las Vegas Aces have won three games in a row and put up 113, 98, and 97 points in those three wins. Seattle is allowing the most points per game in the league so this has the potential to get out of hand.

When making WNBA picks, keep in mind that Las Vegas has defeated Seattle by an average of 37 points in the first two matchups this season and has won the last five games in the series.

Candace Parker won’t play for Las Vegas while guard Riquna Williams is questionable. That resulted in the Aces signing Ashley Joens to a hardship contract. Jones played in eight games for the Dallas Wings after being selected in the second round of the 2023 WNBA Draft. Seattle’s Jewell Loyd is expected to play after missing the last game with a foot injury.

According to the WNBA playoff odds, Las Vegas (-350) has the best odds to win the WNBA championship. Seattle is well back at +40000 in the championship odds.

Star Power

The numbers of the four All-Stars from the Aces are pretty stunning over the last three games.

Kelsey Plum, A’ja Wilson, Jackie Young, and Chelsea Gray have combined to average 81 points on 60% shooting from the field and 50% from 3-point range. By comparison, their opponents averaged 79.7 points in the three games as Las Vegas won each with ease even without Parker playing.

Plum and Young combined for 47 points and seven 3-pointers the last time Las Vegas played Seattle.

The Aces have covered against the WNBA betting lines in three of their last four road games.

Rookies Trying to Step Up

The last time the Seattle Storm stepped on the court, WNBA leading scorer Loyd did not play. Obviously, that changed the look of the offense. Rookie Jordan Horston took a leading role as she had 23 points on 8-of-16 shooting to go with 10 rebounds, two assists, three steals, and no turnovers in 35 minutes.

Fellow rookie Dulcy Fankam Mendjiadeu had 13 points and six rebounds. She is averaging 12.3 points and 10.3 rebounds while shooting 63% from the field over the last three games. Jade Melbourne finished with seven points and five assists as she matched her season-high with 24 minutes played. Ivana Dojkic had three assists in 12 minutes of action.

Something to consider for those who bet online: Seattle has covered in just two of its last seven games.
