Angel Reese, Sky ATS Pick at Home vs Aces
Death, taxes and the Las Vegas Aces being favored to beat the Chicago Sky seem to be about the only certainties in today’s world. For the 17th time in the last 18 meetings, the Aces are listed as the favorite according to the WNBA odds to top the Sky. If there is a silver lining for the host Sky it could be that after being a double-digit underdog in all five games a season ago, the line opened in single digits before moving to +11.
Las Vegas has won seven games in a row against Chicago and nine of the last 10 meetings, with seven of those victories by at least 10 points. The Aces have won their last five games in Chicago, although the Sky did cover in both home games a year ago.
The WNBA betting line has the Aces listed as a 10-point favorite with -525 moneyline odds to win the game outright. Chicago does offer good value at +380 to beat the two-time defending WNBA champions.
According to the WNBA futures odds, Las Vegas has the shortest odds at +140 of winning the WNBA title. Chicago is only ahead of the Los Angeles Sparks and the Washington Mystics in the championship odds.

Aces vs Sky Betting Odds
A’ja Wilson, Aces Look to Keep Rolling
Last season, the Aces looked every bit the part of the team that would win the WNBA championship for the second year in a row. The Aces went into July with a gaudy 14-1 record.
It has been more of a grind this year as the Aces have a chance to win three games in a row for the first time in the 2024 season.
Chicago starts rookies Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso in the frontcourt and they could have their hands full with Aces star and former WNBA Most Valuable Player A’ja Wilson.
Wilson leads the WNBA in both scoring and rebounding. She has scored at least 20 points in every game this season with Las Vegas going 7-2 when Wilson has a double-double.
Wilson averaged 26 points and 12 rebounds as Las Vegas swept the Sky out of the 2023 WNBA playoffs with 87-59 and 92-70 wins. She put up 21 points and 8.0 rebounds per game against Chicago during the 2023 regular season.
Las Vegas is 2-5 against the WNBA spread in its last seven games.
Angel Reese Looks to Build on Monster Game
Even as the former LSU star Angel Reese was piling up the double-doubles earlier in the season, there were plenty of critics considering that she made fewer than 40% of her shots in seven of the first nine games.
Reese had a three-game stretch when she was 10 of 38 from the field. Those would be horrible stats for a perimeter play, but for a player who does most of her work within five feet of the basket, it is downright brutal.
It has been a different story over the last six games.
Reese is averaging 15.8 points and 14.0 rebounds and, more importantly, she is shooting 51.5% from the field and 83.3% from the foul line. Those partaking in player prop bets are sure to check out the options for scoring and rebounding for Reese.
Her best game came the last time out with 25 points on 8-of-12 shooting and 16 rebounds as Chicago edged Indiana 88-87 to move into playoff position. It was the second time in the last three games that Reese and fellow rookie Kamilla Cardoso both had double-doubles.

Chicago is 1-4 against the spread in its last five home games.
Huge Home Test for Sky
Both teams should be well rested. Las Vegas hasn’t played since handing the Connecticut Sun its first road loss of the season on Friday while Chicago’s most recent matchup came on Sunday with the one-point win over Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever.
The rest should benefit both teams. It will give Aces point guard Chelsea Gay more time to shake off some of the rust after she missed the first 12 games of the season. Gray averaged 16.5 minutes in her first two games back and look for her playing time to increase moving forward.
Marina Mabrey is the only Chicago player to start in the Indiana game who was with the Sky a season ago, so the extra days of practice could result in better on-court execution.
While Chicago prides itself on being a physical team, the offense is starting to show signs of life with five of the Sky’s last six games going over the total. Four of the last six games for Las Vegas also went over the total. The total is 170½ for this game.
The Aces have covered in just four of their last 13 road games, so while Las Vegas has been winning games, delivering as huge favorites has been a struggle at times.
Chicago continues to play without veteran post player Elizabeth Williams.
The game will be a homecoming for Las Vegas rookie Kate Martin, a native of Edwardsville, Ill., which is only about a four-hour drive from Chicago. Martin’s playing time has been cut a bit lately as she is averaging 2.0 points and 0.5 rebounds in 9.8 minutes over her last four games.
Look for Las Vegas to continue its winning ways against Chicago but the Sky could cover as the 10-point underdog.
