The Hoops Can Wait, It’s Time for Some Golf

I’m just the average golfer. I’m going to hit some good, I’m going to hit some bad. – Caitlin Clark

Caitlin Clark’s stats on the golf course may not be quite as impressive as on the hardwood, yet the star’s 16 handicap is solid for a pro basketball player. Clark is also having some moments that make us fire up that “one of us” meme as the star’s tee shot nearly struck fans who were just a few feet away from the star.

The hooper is participating in the Annika Driven Pro-Am and hoping to hold her own on the links. Clark admitted that her main goal is to not hit fans with the golf ball. I can relate, Caitlin.

Well, not with the fans part, but hitting things with the golf ball.

“Sometimes it goes straight, but it depends,” Clark said, per Golf Monthly. “You just step up there and you hope for the best. I’m a good sport about it, I just don’t want to hit anyone with a golf ball. That’s my number one priority.”

Caitlin Clark the Pro Golfer? Not Yet

When the offseason started, Clark made WNBA news by joking that she was going to become a pro golfer. Well, Clark may not be able to turn pro yet, the star has lived up to the promise of being on the golf course during the offseason.

It is impressive that Clark has a chance to be one of the best women’s basketball players ever and also has a solid golf game. If you haven’t played golf before, it takes so much effort just to get the ball airborne when you are first starting out.

“I’ve tried to practice as much as I can,” Clark added. “I’m just the average golfer. I’m going to hit some good, I’m going to hit some bad. It is what it is. I’m strong, and I can hit it. It just doesn’t usually go straight.”

Even With No Games, Clark and Reese Are Increasing Interest in the WNBA

Not only is Clark making golf news, but it is also helping grow the WNBA game. With Clark and Angel Reese continuing to create headlines even during the WNBA offseason, it is only going to help interest increase when games resume.

Chances are, we won’t see Clark on the LPGA Tour anytime soon, but it is still fun to see the star play a different sport. Clark will be golfing with many of the legends from the LPGA golf circuit in the coming days.

Now, if we can only combine a way for betting on golf while watching Clark hit the links.
