Good luck finding a bigger meltdown in WNBA Finals history than the one suffered by the favored New York Liberty in Game 1 on Thursday. New York led by 15 points midway through the fourth quarter, only to fall in overtime to the visiting Minnesota Lynx. This feels like a must-win game for the Liberty with Game 2 at home on Sunday.

When the playoffs began, New York was first at +150 and Minnesota was third at +275 in the WNBA championship odds. The Liberty were priced at -280 to win the series with Minnesota at +240 before Game 1. Now, though, the Liberty come in at -115 with Minnesota at -105 to win the series.

Even without popular rookie Caitlin Clark on the court, Thursday’s matchup was the most viewed Game 1 in WNBA Finals history with 1.1 million viewers.

The WNBA odds list the host Liberty as a 7½-point favorite with -330 odds to win Game 2 outright. Minnesota, which is 2-1 on the road in this year’s playoffs, has +270 odds to head back to Minnesota with a 2-0 series lead.

3 Betting Tips For Lynx vs Liberty Matchup

1. Plenty of Motivation For Former MVP Breanna Stewart

Breanna Stewart was visibly frustrated after she missed a free throw in the closing seconds that would have given the Liberty a one-point lead in the series opener. She also failed to convert on a layup on the final play of overtime that could have extended the game.

Stewart did have 18 points and nine rebounds in Game 1. However, she was just 6-of-21 from the field.

Stewart is a two-time WNBA Finals Most Valuable Player during her time with the Seattle Storm, so she knows how to raise her level of play at this time of the WNBA season. Expect a much better performance from Stewart as she looks to lead the Liberty to victory in Game 2.

There are plenty of sports betting odds to consider for Stewart and the Liberty going into Game 2. Go with Stewart to have at least 10 rebounds in a New York win. That would pay out at +133.

Bet on Breanna Stewart 10+ Rebounds in a New York Victory (+138)

2. Stars Align For the Minnesota Lynx

Much has been made of New York’s Big 3 of Stewart, Sabrina Ionescu and Jonquel Jones. However, Minnesota’s trio of Courtney Williams, Napheesa Collier and Kayla McBride outscored New York’s top three players 66-61 while shooting 56% from the field. Stewart and Ionescu combined to go 14-for-47.

Collier has been the best player in this year’s playoffs. She hit the game-winning basket in overtime, but the biggest shot in Game 1 was a four-point play by Williams late in the fourth quarter that gave Minnesota the one-point lead.

An offensive rebound by Alanna Smith set up that game-changing play. If New York came down with the rebound, the WNBA prop bet of New York winning Game 1 and the game landing over 159½ points would have paid out at +134.  The teams might not combine for another 188 points, but it is looking good for the game to land over 163 points.

Bet on Lynx vs Liberty Over 163 Points (-110)

3. Revisit Collier and Ionescu As A Parlay To Consider

It was close but our Game 1 parlay did come through with Collier scoring at least 21 points, Ionescu scoring at least 18 points and Williams surpassing 13 points, which cashed out at +675. Let’s take a look at a parlay to consider in Game 2.

Jones was the most efficient player for New York in Game 1 with 24 points on 9-of-14 shooting so take a look at the +102 odds for Jones to have at least 15 points.

With the way Collier has been playing in the postseason, she is always a top option in the WNBA player prop and parlay bets. The +104 odds for Collier to score at least 21 points is the way to proceed.

Ionescu rebounded from the lone loss against Las Vegas in the WNBA semifinal series with 22 points and five 3-pointers in the game that closed out the two-time defending WNBA champions. She should play and shoot much better than she did in Game 1, so the -107 odds for Ionescu to have at least 19 points is a solid way to complete the three-legged WNBA parlay.

Bet on Jonquel Jones 15+ Points, Napheesa Collier 21+ Points, Sabrina Ionescu 19+ Points in a Parlay
