Western Conference Teams Remain Winless

The Minnesota Lynx and Phoenix Mercury are both still in search of their first win after starting the season 0-2. The Western Conference opponents are two of three teams who are still 0-2 after the Lynx lost both their home games and the Mercury failed to pick up a win in either of their first two games.

One of the two will get a win, however, as the two meet Thursday, with WNBA odds favoring the Mercury.

Lynx Go Cold

Minnesota’s offense is struggling.

Though the Lynx led for the majority of the game and had a 19-point lead in the third quarter, they lostr after the Dream finished the game on an 11-0 run.

Minnesota managed to score 10 points in the final quarter, but it only scored one basket in the final six minutes and was outscored 14-2 in the last 3 1/2 minutes.

Napheesa Collier was the leading scorer for the second straight game with 20 points and the Lynx will need to continue to rely on her.

Mercury Fall At Home

Phoenix lost its home opener and Brittney Griner’s return home after the team couldn’t complete a comeback.

The Sky had an 11-point lead in the second half, but the Mercury got as close as two late in the game behind the play of Griner and Diana Taurasi, who scored 27 and 16 points, respectively.

However, Phoenix’s turnovers, along with some end-of-game Sky free throws, were enough for Chicago to spoil the Mercury’s home opener.

Despite the loss, the defense improved as the Mercury held the Sky to 75 points after the Sparks put up 94 on them in the season opener, though bettors should still see how they start before taking advantage of live betting odds and making WNBA picks.

Lynx vs Mercury Picks and Prediction

One team will be winless no more when the Lynx and Mercury go head to head on Thursday.

Each team has strong scoring leaders in Collier and Griner, with both in the top 10 in WNBA scoring, though Phoenix also has a solid second option in Taurasi.

The Lynx found some better offense in their second game against the Dream, but they fell short after not being able to hold off a comeback late in the game. Minnesota may have trouble stopping a Mercury team who almost mounted their own comeback against the undefeated Sky, which should help Phoenix get a win at home.
