Opposite Teams Meet in Rematch
Teams on separate ends of the league standings will meet in a rematch Wednesday when the Phoenix Mercury and New York Liberty go head to head. The Mercury’s 3-12 record has placed them last in the WNBA, while New York is second, 3.5 games behind Las Vegas. The Liberty won the first meeting between the two, and according to WNBA odds, they’re favored in the rematch as well.
Mercury Drop Another
Phoenix couldn’t build on its win against the Indiana Fever, falling to the Minnesota Lynx for its eighth loss in 10 games.
Though the Mercury put up a strong game defensively to get their win over Indiana, limiting it to 63 points, they struggled once again against the Lynx, allowing 86 points on 45.6% shooting.
Phoenix was unable to slow Minnesota rookie Diamond Miller, who finished with 25 points, while two others reached double figures as well.
The Mercury couldn’t handle New York the first time around, giving up 89 points, and until their defense shows improvement, they remain an unreliable WNBA pick.
Liberty Bounce Back
New York got back to its winning ways after its four-game losing streak came to an end with its loss to Las Vegas.
Despite the Liberty being second in the league, averaging 87.1 points a game, they rebounded with a win over the Seattle Storm using strong defense.

New York held Seattle to 66 points on 35.4% shooting. Though the Liberty struggled to stop Jewell Loyd, who scored 27 points, no one else on the Storm scored over 12 points.
The Liberty’s offense continues to be their strength, but with their defense fourth in the league, they could be a solid WNBA live betting pick for another strong game against the struggling Mercury.
