Who Will Win the 2025 WNBA Title? Aces (+325) Best Bet to Dethrone Liberty

The 2024 WNBA season ended with the New York Liberty winning the franchise’s first title after dispatching of the Minnesota Lynx in five games in the WNBA Finals, with Jonquel Jones earning Finals MVP honors.

The 2024 season welcomed fan favorite Caitlin Clark to the WNBA. The former Iowa star was so popular that many of the Indiana Fever’s road games were moved to larger arenas to accommodate the unprecedented ticket requests. Indiana has an improved roster as Clark heads into her second season and that is reflected in the WNBA championship odds.

There is a new team with the Golden State Valkyries making their debut against Los Angeles on Friday. Golden State has some work to do to be considered among the teams to beat.

For those who bet on the WNBA, the 2025 season gets underway with three games on Friday. Atlanta is at Washington, Minnesota plays at Dallas in the first game for Wings rookie (and No. 1 overall pick) Paige Bueckers against the team she grew up watching, and the Valkyries open at home against Los Angeles.

2025 WNBA Predictions

Favored Liberty to Plant a Seed

An injury will sideline Betnijah Laney-Hamilton, but the trio of Breanna Stewart, Sabrina Ionescu and Jonquel Jones return to lead the reigning champions.

New York is priced at +200 to make it back-to-back championships. The addition of veteran guard Natasha Cloud will help the Liberty. Does New York have enough support for the Big Three to win another title?

The Liberty will continue to be favored by the WNBA game lines.

Aces on Title Track

The bid for the Las Vegas Aces to become the first team in more than 20 years to win at least three consecutive WNBA titles and make WNBA betting new ended when they fell to the Liberty in the semifinals.

Las Vegas didn’t stand pat. Second-leading scorer Kelsey Plum was part of a three-team draft that saw the Aces acquire guard Jewell Loyd from Seattle, Plum land in Los Angeles and Seattle select Dominique Malonga with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft.

A’ja Wilson, Jackie Young and Chelsea Gray all return. The Aces are without three of their top seven scorers. They come in at +325 in the WNBA championship odds.

Can Collier Lead Lynx to the Top?

Minnesota returns pretty much the same team that fell a win shy of capturing the WNBA title. Napheesa Collier averaged more than 20 points per game for the second season in a row. She had career-highs of 9.7 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.4 blocked shots per game. Her scoring numbers jumped to 23.8 in the postseason.

When looking at the WNBA predictions, Minnesota comes in at +4000.

Caitlin Clark Top MVP Hopeful

Some of the attendance numbers for Indiana games were off the charts thanks to Clark’s arrival.

Heading into the 2024 season, only four regular-season games had announced attendance figures over 20,000. Three of Indiana’s games topped that mark. That included a Sept. 19 matchup with Washington that had 20,711 fans in attendance. That was a record for a regular-season game.

There will be plenty of WNBA expert picks involving Clark this season.

Clark and the Fever fell in the first round of the playoffs. The Fever made some changes. Former Connecticut Sun coach Stephanie White saw that the grass was greener in Indiana and got out of the gig with the Sun so she could return to coach Indiana.

DeWanna Bonner, Sophie Cunningham, Natasha Howard and Brianna Turner are among the veterans joining the Fever in the offseason. Indiana is the No. 4 pick at +400 to win the WNBA title. Clark (+195) has the shortest WNBA MVP odds.

Best of the Rest

With the retirement of WNBA career scoring leader Diana Taurasi and Brittney Griner now in Atlanta, Phoenix will look much different. Kahleah Copper, the Mercury’s leading scorer in 2024, will be joined by Satou Sabally and Alyssa Thomas. Phoenix comes in at +1400 in the championship odds.

There’s a drop-off after that. Seattle is next at +3500 while Atlanta is +5000 and Los Angeles and Dallas are each priced at +6000. They are followed by Chicago at +7000.

There will be plenty of eyes on former UConn star Paige Bueckers, the top pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft, as she joins Arike Ogunbowale in Dallas. NaLyssa Smith and DiJonai Carrington are other key offseason additions for Dallas.

The Connecticut Sun has made the playoffs in each of the last eight seasons, the longest active streak in the WNBA. That streak is in jeopardy with all five starters gone from the 2024 team. Only the expansion Valkyries have longer championship odds than the Sun.

Question Of The Day

Who was the 2024 WNBA MVP?

A’ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces was a unanimous pick for MVP.
