Bet Boston College, Under in Frozen Four Title Game

Denver held likely No. 1 overall NHL Draft pick Macklin Celebrini off the scoresheet to advance to the national title game. It will be a much tougher challenge facing Boston College in the national championship game. The college hockey latest lines list the Eagles as the favorite.

In the HockeyWriters.com midseason list of the top 100 NHL prospects, Boston College’s Will Smith ranked fourth, Ryan Leonard was seventh, Cutter Gauthier 10th and Gabe Perreault No. 12. They combined for four goals and three assists in Boston College’s 4-0 win over Michigan.

The teams met in October, with visiting Denver winning 4-3 after scoring three times in the third period, including a pair of power-play goals.

When looking at the college hockey predictions, Boston College has -110 odds to cover against the puck line as a 1.5-goal favorite.

Going into the NCAA Tournament, Boston College had the best odds of winning the national title at +500 with Denver fifth at +950 in the championship odds.

Denver vs Boston College Moneyline Pick: Boston College (-260)

Denver found a way to survive and advance against the Boston University team with more high-end talent, so count out the Pioneers at your own risk. Recent Frozen Four title games have not always been won by the team with the roster full of future NHL players.

Expect Boston College to be challenged a little more than was the case in the semifinal matchup against an overmatched Michigan team.

Boston College is a solid pick to win the game but look for Denver to find a way to hang around.

Denver vs Boston College Over/Under Pick: Under 6 (-130)

We’d feel better if the total was a little higher because this Boston College team can put up goals in a hurry. However, goalies Jacob Fowler of Boston College and Matt Davis of Denver are first and second in the NCAA in winning percentage for a reason.

Each of the first three Denver games in the NCAA Tournament ended with 2-1 victories for the Pioneers, with a pair of overtime games mixed in there. Don’t look for another 2-1 game, but Denver will do what it can to limit the open ice for the high-scoring Boston College forwards.

Boston College has scored 15 goals in the first three NCAA Tournament games, nine more than Denver. Keep that in mind when looking at the college hockey over/under predictions.
