How to bet on WNBA Odds & Lines

Understanding WNBA Moneyline Betting

There are many different ways to bet on the WNBA, but the three most common ones are the moneyline, point spread, and total.

The moneyline is a wager on who the bettor believes will win the game, and most often is represented by a positive and negative number.

The team that is favored will be given a negative number while the underdog is represented by a positive number, the greater the number, the larger the favorite or underdog.

For example, in a Las Vegas Aces and Phoenix Mercury matchup, the Aces may be given -300 odds to win, indicating they are a heavy favorite, while the Mercury are an underdog with +200 odds.

A bettor would have to place a $300 wager to win $100 if Las Vegas won while a $100 bet would win $200 if Phoenix won.

Diving Into Point Spread Betting

Point spreads have the bettor predict how much a team will win or lose. For the Aces and Mercury, the sportsbook may believe the Aces will win by 15 points, and list the spread as -15 for the Aces. For Las Vegas to cover the spread, it must win by more than 15 points, while Phoenix must either win or lose by less than 15 points to cover.

The Concept of Total Betting

Finally, the total is a wager that has the bettor predict how much both teams will combine to score in the matchup.

In the case of the Aces-Mercury game, the total could be listed at 164.

If bettors believe teams will have a high-scoring game and combine to score over 164, they’ll take the over, while they’d do the opposite if they believe it would be a low-scoring affair.

Exploring WNBA Prop Bets

Prop bets are another way fans can get involved in WNBA action, and include bettors placing wagers on certain events or player performances in a game.

Fans can bet on what team will win the first tip, who will score first, or what kind of stats a player will have in a game to increase the entertainment value of the game.

WNBA Odds and Lines

What is the WNBA about?

The WNBA is a women’s professional basketball league that has 12 teams competing against each other to decide the champion at the end of the season.

The WNBA season takes place in the summer months and is another great way for bettors to remain involved in pro basketball betting, as it begins toward the conclusion of the NBA.

Which Teams Are Favored to Win the WNBA Championship?

The Las Vegas Aces are the current favorite to win the WNBA Championship, however, WNBA predictions have New York as a strong contender as well, with the Liberty having the second-best odds to win.

How Does the WNBA Championship Work?

The sportsbook offers many ways for fans to bet on the WNBA postseason, with the moneyline, point spread, and total being the three main ways.

The moneyline is the same as any other sport, with bettors given the option of who they will win the game or series in the postseason.

The point spread is also similar, as it entails bettors deciding how much a team will win or lose by, while the total is a prediction on the combined number of points each team will score.

Betting Strategy

There are a few different strategies bettors can employ to get the most out of their wager.

Researching the teams one is betting on is going to be the most helpful, as knowing what players are doing well as well as who is injured will be useful in placing a bet.

Knowing how a team is playing heading into the playoffs is also key, as a team playing strong and with momentum is likely to do better than a team that just snuck in.

Finally, it can be helpful to look at a team’s history with who it is playing, because if a team has historically played well against another, it may be a strong choice to take it in the matchup.

Prop Bets

Prop bets are another way to get involved in WNBA championship betting, and are an exciting way to add some entertainment value to the game aside from the three main betting pieces.

Prop bets are wagers on events that could take place during the games, such as what team will win the tip-off or who will score first. Bettors can also wager on player props, which are bets on how a player will perform statistically, such as how many points they will score or rebounds they will get.
