The St. Louis Cardinals are marching forward right now. They’ve won seven out of their last 10 games and currently hold a two-game lead in the National League Central over the Milwaukee Brewers.
The same can’t be said about the Colorado Rockies, who have evenly split their last 10 games and are dead last in the NL West. They trail the first place Los Angeles Dodgers by 30 games and are out of playoff contention.
The Cardinals are a sizing favorite on the MLB betting odds here. Are they going to win and cash as expected in the sportsbook? Check the latest MLB news, stats, injury reports and MLB odds for Rockies vs Cardinals. We’ve plenty of MLB picks & predictions.
Rockies Giving Freeland the Start
The Colorado Rockies are up against a division leader here and the concern is that they’re not going to measure up well. Kyle Freeland will be sent to the mound but he is 7-8 behind a mediocre 4.84 ERA.
He didn’t do well the last time that we saw him out on the mound. His last matchup was on Wednesday against the Cardinals. Freeland went 4.1 innings and allowed six runs, paving the way for St. Louis to win 9-5.
If you bet online, note that Freeland has struggled with the Cardinals lineup. They bat .390 against him, led by Paul DeJong, who is 3-for-8 with two RBIs and Yadier Molina, who is 4-for-10 with two RBIs.
Freeland is going to have to change things up from last week or he’s likely to get rocked again.
Quintana Looking to Keep Cardinals Hot
The St. Louis Cardinals are 10-3 in their last 13 and in first place for a reason. Everything seems to be clicking for them and they’ll bank on Jose Quintana to keep that going.
This team has allowed 5.3 runs per game over their last 13, but keep in mind that 25 of those runs came in two outings. In other words, they’ve allowed just 2.5 runs per game in their other 11.
Quintana will be tasked with keeping the Rockies at bay. He is 4-5 with a 3.37 ERA and 102 strikeouts. Quintana spent months with the Pittsburgh Pirates before getting acquired by the Cardinals at the trade deadline.
Since joining the Cardinals, he’s pitched 12 innings and has allowed just three runs. Each of those games resulted in wins.

Rockies vs Cardinals Prediction
The Cardinals have lost two out of their past three games against the Rockies this season but it feels like they should turn things around here. Quintana has won each of the games he’s played for them sincebeing traded. Plus, St. Louis is 10-3 in their last 13.
Meanwhile, Freeland got crushed on the mound in his last start, which just so happened to be against the Cardinals. For the time being, St. Louis looks to be the better option shifting into this matchup. Go with them for your MLB picks.
