Vitality send Destrian to the bench

On the organization’s Twitter page, Team Vitality, a French organization, revealed adjustments to the starting roster of their Valorant team. Information regarding Tomas “Destrian” Linikas’ transfer to the replacement bench was disclosed in the post. The player had played for the team during the VCT 2023 season, but according to what was published on social media, the team chose to suspend him. 2020 saw the young Lithuanian join the Nolpenki roster and start his career. Destrian has competed for many teams in his career, but his most successful partnership was with Team Vitality.

Destrian made his debut on the international scene in Brazil when he and his squad defeated Global Esports from 2023’s LOCK//IN before getting sent home prematurely by Leviatán. He originally came on alongside the rest of the redesigned Vitality roster. Vitality fought their way through the EMEA League season and into the playoffs, eager to compete at Masters: Tokyo. However, they were promptly crushed by Team Liquid and FUT Esports, sending them to the EMEA LCQ. But after Karel “Twisten” Ašenbrener passed away, Vitality declared that they will not be joining the EMEA LCQ, which meant that their 2023 season was over.

It wasn’t until December, during the Convergence tournament, that the squad resumed competing. Despite losing the final match versus FUT Esports, Team Vitality may still feel proud of themselves after defeating FURIA and Global Esports and capping the year off well. For Destrian, though, the happiness was fleeting. It has been made public that he has withdrawn from the squad before the VCT. The directors stated in the release they issued that adjustments were required for the team’s long-term success, but they did not elaborate on the reasoning behind their decision. Clubs must put forth every effort to offer themselves the best chance if they hope to succeed at this round of the competition.

The squad did poorly in 2023, so the organizers made the decision to alter the lineup in an attempt to improve their results in the future. Concern was expressed both inside and outside of Team Vitality after the team failed to score a single triumph in the previous season. Trexx is one of the possible substitutions that Team Vitality may be making shortly, given that Destrian has been relegated to the substitute bench. Online rumors about a trexx movement had been going around for a few days.

Team Vitality has the following members at the time of writing: Kimmie “Kicks” Laasner, Saif “Sayf” Jibraeel, Jokūbas “ceNder” Labutis, Emil “runneR” Trajkovski, Joseph “Strong” Edwards (Coach), Harry “Gorilla” Mepham (Assistant coach), Salah “salah” Barakat (Head coach), Marcus “marcus_askildsen” Askildsen (Performance coach), Marceau “Placido” Lambert (Performance coach).

Several organizations have already confirmed their rosters, with the Valorant Champions Tour beginning in mid-February and the Challengers League beginning in a few weeks. Vitality promises assistance, yet for the 2024 season, finding a new project will undoubtedly not be simple. Regarding his replacement, no information has been made public about him yet, but fans already have a lot of speculations as to who it might be.
