Braves No. 1 in MLB Power Rankings, World Series Odds

Reds Continue to Lead the Majors in Run-Line Success Rate

The Atlanta Braves became the first team to clinch a playoff spot and will be a favorite for those making MLB predictions when the playoffs roll around. The Chicago White Sox and Colorado Rockies became the latest teams eliminated from playoff contention.

Regarding MLB Power Rankings, Houston made the biggest move among the playoff contenders while the two New York teams are languishing in the bottom half of the rankings.

Keep in mind that the Cincinnati Reds and Baltimore Orioles are fighting it out for the best results against the run line total when making your MLB picks. The New York Mets and Kansas City Royals continue to have the worst run-line record in the majors.

When looking at our MLB odds, the Atlanta Braves remain at +300 to win the World Series. The Dodgers aren’t far behind at +400.

Here is a look at the MLB power rankings with five of the games being played on Monday featuring a pair of teams with winning records.

Power Rankings

1. Atlanta Braves: The Braves have already clinched a playoff spot and are on the verge of clinching the National League East Division title entering a series with the second-place Philadelphia Phillies.

The old-time baseball fans had to chuckle at Braves star Ronald Acuna Jr. jawing at Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Johan Oviedo for having the gall to pitch Acuna inside without coming too close to hitting him with a pitch.

It is no wonder he is putting up the numbers he is this season as he is favored by the MLB predictions to win the National League MVP award.

2. Baltimore Orioles: Baltimore’s winning streak came to an end on Sunday. However, the Orioles still hit the 90-win mark and lead the American League East by three games.

The Orioles had 34 runs in a three-game stretch and won a game despite allowing 23 hits over the weekend. We’re not sure that the Las Vegas MLB odds saw that coming.

3. Los Angeles Dodgers: Questions abound when it comes to the starting rotation. Still, the Dodgers lead the National League West Division by 13 games and are one of three teams with at least 40 wins both at home and on the road.

When looking at the MLB predictions, the Dodgers have the best run-line total in the NL West despite a so-so 38-33 mark at home.

4. Tampa Bay Rays: Tampa Bay continues to come hard in the race for the AL East title and the top seed in the American League playoffs. Pitcher Tyler Glasnow is back on the mound on Monday after striking out 14 batters the last time out.

Tampa Bay became the first team this season to win 50 games at home.

5. Houston Astros: Since taking over the lead in the American League West Division race, the Astros have started to resemble the team that won the World Series last season.

Second baseman Jose Altuve is leading the charge with six home runs in the last eight games.

6. Milwaukee Brewers: Milwaukee doesn’t need to have veteran outfielder Christian Yelich dealing with injuries at this time of the year as the Brewers try to hold onto first place in the National League Central Division.

Ace Corbin Burnes tossed eight hitless innings on Sunday and still, the Brewers found a way to lose the game.

7. Chicago Cubs: The Cubs could certainly use starting pitcher Marcus Stroman coming off the injured list sooner rather than later. However, pitcher Justin Steele and outfielder Cody Bellinger have the Cubs in playoff position and vying for the NL Central lead.

The Cubs are on the verge of going over the +100 mark in run differential and few who bet online could have seen that coming when the season began.

8. Seattle Mariners: Seattle lost control of the AL West and the Mariners are trending in the wrong direction with a 3-7 record over the last 10 games. They carry a three-game losing streak into the start of a three-game series with the Los Angeles Angels.

The Mariners are tied for second in the American League with 89 home runs since the MLB All-Star Game.

9. Toronto Blue Jays: Toronto is starting to heat up with an 8-2 mark over the last 10 games and could easily be a couple of spots higher in the MLB power rankings.

Veteran outfielders George Springer and Kevin Kiermaier are both hitting over .340 in September.

10. Texas Rangers: The Rangers picked up some badly needed back-to-back wins so perhaps that will help to turn things around for the team that led the American League West Division for most of the season.

Shortstop Corey Seager just hit his 30th home run and had he not missed 43 games, he would be higher in the MLB betting lines in the American League Most Valuable Player pecking order. Adolis Garcia (34 home runs, 100 RBIs) needs to get healthy for the Rangers.

11. Philadelphia Phillies: The defending NL champions hold down the top wild-card spot in the National League despite a 36-36 record at home.

The Phillies need eight runs to become the fourth National League team with 700 runs this season.

12. Minnesota Twins: Even with multiple key hitters on the injured list, the Minnesota Twins are headed to the AL Central Division title. The 86 home runs since the MLB All-Star Game have helped,

13. Arizona Diamondbacks: The Diamondbacks have given up more runs than they have scored, but with Zac Gallen, listed by our MLB odds among the NL Cy Young front-runners, and Rookie of the Year favorite Corbin Carroll leading the way, Arizona holds down the final playoff spot in the National League.

14. Miami Marlins: The pitching has been a little shaky at times and now reigning Cy Young Award winner Sandy Alcantara is sidelined. Still, an 8-2 mark over the last 10 games pushes the Marlins up two spots in the Power Rankings.

15. San Francisco Giants: Despite a 32-39 record on the road, the Giants have played their way into playoff contention. The next seven games come against teams with losing records so it is now or never for the Giants.

16. Cincinnati Reds: With so many rookies in key roles, it has been a bumpy ride. However, the Reds are right in the thick of the race for the final playoff spot in the National League. The Reds have an MLB-leading 90-55 record against the run line.

17. Boston Red Sox: Despite having winning records both at home and on the road, time is running out for the Red Sox to make a push for the playoffs. A 4-6 mark in the last 10 games hasn’t helped.

18. Detroit Tigers: Young outfielder Riley Greene is sidelined while pitcher Matt Manning suffered a season-ending injury. Still, Detroit is 7-3 over the last 10 games and challenging Cleveland for second place in the AL Central.

19. Cleveland Guardians: Speaking of Cleveland, the Guardians are 7½ games behind Minnesota in the AL Central and Terry Francona‘s managerial swan song is not going to include a postseason berth.

20. New York Yankees: The Yankees are set to meet the rival Red Sox, and the biggest question is whether the Yankees can move out of last place in the AL East. Playing on the road on the anniversary of 9/11 doesn’t seem right.

21. San Diego Padres: Just when it looks like San Diego starts to show signs of life, the underachieving Padres drop back-to-back games. Imagine what the record would look like if not for pitcher Blake Snell.

22. Pittsburgh Pirates: There is some reason for optimism with young pitchers and position players getting a taste of life in the major leagues, but it will be another playoff-less season for the Pirates.

23. Washington Nationals: Washington takes a tumble in the power rankings after dropping eight of the last 10 games. The reports of how the Nationals are handling the retirement of former ace Stephen Strasburg is not reflecting well on the franchise.

24. New York Mets: Pete Alonso keeps hitting home runs during a lost season for a Mets team that was eyeing the playoffs coming into the season.

25: St. Louis Cardinals: The Cardinals are consistent with a 31-40 record at home and a 32-40 mark on the road.

26. Los Angeles Angels: With the injury to Shohei Ohtani and now word that the Angels would entertain offers for former MVP Mike Trout if he decides that he wants to leave, these are tough times for the Angels fans.

27. Colorado Rockies: With a four-game losing streak and a 2-8 record over the last 10 games, the Rockies have been eliminated from playoff contention.

28. Chicago White Sox: A nightmarish 2023 season is winding to a close for the White Sox team that won’t be heading to the postseason.

29. Kansas City Royals: Are congratulations in order after the Royals became the first team to hit the 100-loss mark this season?

30. Oakland Athletics: Oakland has a chance to reach the .500 mark against the run line total on Monday.
