Expect Golden Knights’ Bettors To Cash In Big Versus Capitals

The defending Stanley Cup champion Vegas Golden Knights should be among your NHL picks for Nov. 14 when they visit the Washington Capitals to start their five-game road trip.

The Knights had lost two straight games for the first time this season before knocking off the San Jose Sharks 5-0 on Friday. They lead the league in wins (12) and are in the top five in both goals for and against.

Vegas owns five straight victories over the Capitals, who beat the Knights in five games to win the Stanley Cup in 2018. Under bettors this season are 6-1 in the last seven Washington games and 3-0 in the past three Vegas contests.

The Capitals looked like one of the worst teams in the Eastern Conference, losing four of their first five games (1-3-1), but have rebounded with a 6-1-1 stretch. Washington beat New Jersey and the New York Islanders last weekend without injured No. 1 goalie Darcy Kuemper.

Vegas Balance Is Key To Moneyline Payoffs

The Golden Knights were dominant on both ends of the ice during their amazing 16-6 postseason run last spring.

Vegas has carried that over this season while scoring 3.67 goals per game and allowing 2.13 per contest. Goalie Adin Hill, who led the team to the Cup, is 7-1-1 with a .939 save percentage to start the season and backup Logan Thompson is 5-1-0 with a .923 SP.

The Golden Knights have not been a certainty ATS through the first 15 games, though, going just 8-7. That doesn’t mean you should keep Vegas out of your NHL spread picks for Tuesday, because it has outscored opponents 17-2 in its last three wins.

Center William Karlsson is off to a great start with eight goals, 18 points and a +13 rating, while Jack Eichel has added 15 points and captain Mark Stone boasts 14.

Capitals Filling Wallets Of Under Bettors

Washington has been known as a lethal offensive team over the years, led by nine-time Rocket Richard Trophy winner Alexander Ovechkin.

This season, the Capitals are putting themselves in playoff position so far with outstanding defense. Washington is allowing 2.85 goals per game (eighth in the league) but scoring only 2.31 (31st).

The Caps’ power play is 0 for 16 in the last six games and they have killed off all 18 in the past eight. Charlie Lindgren and Hunter Shepard gave up just three total goals in the wins over New Jersey and the Islanders.

Kuemper (3-3-2, .892 SP) is questionable with an undisclosed injury, but was reportedly a full participant in Monday’s practice.
The under is 10-3 overall, according to NHL lines, in Washington games, but Ovechkin (four goals, one on PP) is due to break out.

Golden Knights vs Capitals Betting Lines

Best Bets for Golden Knights vs Capitals

First-year coach Spencer Carbery has done an outstanding job to get Washington off to a solid start and the Capitals are only converting 7.9 percent of their power-play opportunities. But we think the Golden Knights may be a little too much for them to handle on this night. Vegas has won six straight games against Metropolitan Division teams and should make it seven. NHL Best Bet: Vegas -1½ (+165)

Best Prop Bets for Golden Knights vs Capitals

You get pretty good odds if you think the most goals will be scored in the first or second period and for Vegas to win by two (+450) or three goals (+550). Washington may have to get dirty goals in close to stay in this one, so Tom Wilson scoring might be a good bet.

Best NHL Prop: Most goals scored in 2nd period, Wilson 1+ goals
