UConn vs Marquette Game Information

  1. Game: UConn (26-3, 16-2 Big East) vs Marquette(22-7, 13-5)
  2. Location: Fiserv Forum, Milwaukee, Wis.

The Huskies dominated the Golden Eagles 81-53 in Hartford on Feb. 17. While in theory it would be a tougher task on the road, Marquette will be without star player and reigning Big East Player of the Year, Tyler Kolek, who will miss the remainder of the regular season. This is something to keep in mind when making your NCAAB picks today.

UConn vs Marquette Odds and Spreads

  1. The Huskies are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 overall.
  2. The Golden Eagles are 8-0-1 ATS in their last nine games as a home underdog of up to 6½ points.
  3. The Golden Eagles are 8-0-1 ATS in their last nine games as a home underdog.
  4. The Golden Eagles have won six straight at home ATS.
  5. The over is 5-1 in the Huskies last six games following an SU win of more than 20 points.

UConn vs Marquette O/U Pick: Under 151½

While UConn boasts a strong offense, its defense is even better, allowing 64 points per game. The Huskies have surrendered 67 points or fewer in 12 of their last 13 games, including holding Marquette to 53, significantly less than its season average of nearly 80. The Huskies are strong on the boards and have a great rim protector in NBA draft prospect Donovan Clingan.

The Golden Eagles managed to score 75 points in Kolek’s absence in a loss to Creighton, but being without the point guard will be a massive hit to the offense, as he averaged 15 points and 7.6 assists. They will need continued contributions from leading scorer Kam Jones, as well as forward David Joplin and guard Stevie Mitchell, who both well exceeded their season scoring average without Kolek in the lineup.

We think the Huskies will take advantage of Marquette being without its best player, once again holding them well below its season average. The potent offense of the Huskies might make things close, but we believe the NCAAB best bet is for the total score to be below 151½ points.

UConn vs Marquette ATS Pick: UConn -5½

UConn has managed to be a top team in the country all season after losing three starters from the national championship team by boasting considerable depth. All five starters have potential to lead the team in scoring. When the teams met last month, the Huskies fed Clingan, who had 17 points on nearly perfect shooting. Or they could turn to sharp shooters Cam Spencer and Alex Karaban. Possible fellow NBA draft lottery pick Stephon Castle has shown his scoring ability, with a game-high 21 in the team’s most recent win against Seton Hall. Then there’s the stat-stuffing fifth-year point guard Tristen Newton, a finalist for the Bob Cousy award for best point guard in the country that averages 15.3 points, 7.1 rebounds and 6.0 assists. The Huskies have so many ways that they can beat you. Especially without Kolek, we believe they will handily take care of business and cover the 5½-point college basketball spread.
