Guardians Strong Value Bet To Extend Astros’ Woes

The American League Central-leading Cleveland Guardians should be a good bet as the underdog in the MLB odds when they visit the Houston Astros for the deciding matchup of a three-game series on Thursday night.

The Guardians won for the 12th time in 18 road games on Wednesday as red-hot Steven Kwan doubled in the go-ahead run in the 10th inning for a 3-2 victory. Cleveland is 2-2 in the last four games – all ending in extra frames.

Houston, which lost in Game 7 of the AL Championship series to Texas last season, is off to a baffling start with only 10 wins in 30 outings. The Astros are 5-10 at home and could not extend their season-high win streak of three on Wednesday night.

The Guardians are currently +3000 to win the World Series in the MLB future odds while Houston is now at +1400.

Kwan Helps Guardians’ Bettors Cash

Cleveland left fielder and lead-off hitter Steven Kwan is having quite a season.

Kwan went 3-for-5 on Wednesday to push his batting average to .360 and extend his hitting streak to seven games. The 26-year-old Californian is 11-for-28 during his streak and 5-for-7 in the series with two triples and a double.

Don’t forget Kwan’s defense. Kwan won an AL Gold Glove in his first two MLB seasons in 2022 and 2023, and showed it with a diving catch and double play to end Wednesday’s contest.

“Kwan has come through for us over and over,” Guardians manager Stephen Vogt told reporters. “. … There’s gold out there for a reason. That’s beautiful.

Guardians Hold Mound Betting Edge

Cleveland left-hander Logan Allen does not have great numbers, but the 25-year-old has found a way to win three of four decisions in the early going.

Allen won his first two starts of the season, but has struggled a bit over the last four outings. The 2020 second-round draft pick allowed 16 runs over his last 19⅔ innings but is 1-1 in those four starts. The Guardians are 6-0 in Allen’s past six starts versus AL West opponents.

His statistics are still better than Houston rookie Spencer Arrighetti, who is 0-3 with a 10.97 ERA in his first three career starts. The 24-year-old right-hander gave up four runs on seven hits across 3⅔ innings in a loss to the Chicago Cubs in his last start on April 24.

Give the advantage to Allen if you bet online and put some money on the over.

Tucker Carrying Astros’ Offense

Houston is somehow third in the majors in batting average, but no better than 16th in runs scored. Under bettors are 19-9-2 in Astros contests this season.

The pitching matchup may give the over bettors (9½) a chance on Thursday and Houston’s Kyle Tucker is the best bet to be involved in a high-scoring game. Tucker has hit safely in seven straight games and leads the team with 21 RBIs and eight homers.

The Tampa native is 0-for-3 against fellow lefty Allen, though. Jeremy Pena is 3-for-3 against Allen and could have good prop value for your sport betting.
