Top European Leagues Breakdown: Title Races Are On

With the exception of the English Premier League, the title race at the top European soccer leagues have everybody on the edge of their seats, and we only have 11 (or less) games to go.

Let’s take a look at what has happened recently and how the sports betting odds to win the English Premier League, the Italian Serie A, La Liga (Spain), Bundesliga (Germany), and Ligue 1 (France) have changed.

Premier League (England)

  • Reigning champions: Liverpool
  • Current First Place: Manchester City

After losing against Manchester United two weeks ago, Manchester City have won two games in a row; 5-2 against Southampton and 0-3 against Fulham, giving them back a 14-point advantage at the top of the English Premier League.

The “Citizens” have a 22-5-3 record, and they lead the scoring chart on both ends: they have scored 64 goals and allowed just 21.

Manchester United haven’t lost in their last five games, but they drew twice. More recently, they beat West Ham United 1-0, and now they’re focusing on the UEFA Europa League, where they’ll be facing AC Milan in the Round of 16.

Other Contenders

Leicester City beat Sheffield United 5-0 to remain in third place with 56 points, one point less than Manchester United. The “Foxes” are followed by Chelsea (51 points), who finished 0-0 against in their last domestic game against Leeds United.

West Ham United complete the English Premier League top five with 48 points, but Liverpool (46 points), Everton (46 points) and Tottenham (45 points) are seriously threatening them.

To Be Relegated

If Manchester City already have the English Premier League title in the pocket, Sheffield United already have the “relegation zone title” in the pocket. The “Pirates” have 14 points, 14 points less than Newcastle (seventeenth place).

Albion (18 points) and Fulham (26 points) complete the relegation zone. Brighton (29 points) are also dangerously close.

Next Weekend Best Games

The English Premier League (as all leagues) will go into an impasse due to the FA Cup Grand Finale, but next weekend there’ll be some rescheduled matches in order to complete the schedule.

On Sunday, Aston Villa will play host to Tottenham, while West Ham United will play host to Arsenal.

Odds to win the English Premier League Title

No surprise here; Manchester City come as the huge favorite at the odds to win the English Premier League at -25000. The “Citizens” are followed by Manchester United +6600, Leicester City +20000 and Chelsea +25000.

Serie A (Italy)

  • Reigning champions: Juventus
  • Current First Place: Inter Milan

Inter Milan have won eight Italian Serie A games in a row and now have a nine-point advantage over AC Milan at the top. More recently, Inter Milan beat Atalanta 1-0 and Torino 1-2; they have scored 65 goals and allowed 26.

AC Milan are in second place with 56 points after losing 0-1 against Napoli. AC Milan have won just two of their last five games, and now could fall to third place; Juventus have 55 points and they have played one game less.

Juventus haven’t lost in their last five domestic games. More recently, they beat Cagliari 3-1, and they own the best defensive unit in the league after allowing just 22 goals in 26 games.

Atalanta (52 points) and Napoli (50 points) complete the Italian Serie A top five. Atalanta won four of their last five games, while Napoli have won three of their last four.

Relegation

The bottom of the Italian Serie A is on fire! Crotone are in last place with 15 points, while Parma (19 points) and Torino (20 points) complete the relegation zone.

Cagliari have 22 points and sit in seventeenth place with 11 games to play.

Next Weekend Best Games

Next weekend, Inter Milan will play host to Sassuolo on Saturday.

On Sunday, Atalanta will be on the road against Hellas Verona, while Juventus will play host to Benevento. AC Milan will play on the road against AC Milan, and AS Roma will play host to Napoli.

Odds to Win the Serie A Title

Inter Milan remain at the top of the odds to win the Serie A with a -500 value. Juventus come next with a +600 value, while AC Milan offer a +1000 value.

Atalanta (+4000) and Napoli (+5000) complete the top five to win the Italian Serie A title.

La Liga (Spain)

  • Reigning champions: Real Madrid
  • Current First Place: Atletico Madrid

Well, Atletico Madrid are in trouble. Last weekend, they drew 0-0 against Getafe, and now they’re in first place with 63 points, four more than Barcelona; Atletico have won just two of their last five La Liga games.

Barcelona just beat S.D. Huesca 4-1, and now they’re in second place with 59 points. Barcelona won their last four La Liga games in a row, and they’ve scored 61 goals overall (best in the league).

Real Madrid beat Elche 2-1 with a late goal to remain in third place with 57 points. “Los Blancos” have won three of their last five games (3-2-0).

Barcelona and Real Madrid will collide on April 11. That’s going to be a crucial game regarding the title race.

At the Bottom

Deportivo Alaves (23 points), Eibar (22 points) and S.D. Huesca (20 points) are in the relegation zone. Just S.D. Huesca won one of their last five La Liga games.

Osasuna (29 points), Cadiz (29 points), Getafe (28 points), Valladolid (26 points) and Elche (24 points) are dangerously close to the relegation zone with 11 games to play (33 points).

Next Weekend Best Games

On Saturday, Celta de Vigo will play host to Real Madrid, while Sevilla will be on the road against Valladolid.

Both Atletico Madrid and Barcelona will play on Sunday. Atletico Madrid will face Deportivo Alaves (at home), while Barcelona will face Real Sociedad (on the road).

La Liga Top Scorers

  • Luis Suarez (Atletico Madrid): 18
  • Gerard Moreno (Villarreal): 15
  • Karim Benzema (Real Madrid): 15

Odds to Win the La Liga Title

Despite recent results, Atletico Madrid remain atop the odds to win La Liga with a -163 value (they were -175). Real Madrid come next with a +300 value, while Barcelona offer a +400 value.

Bundesliga (Germany)

  • Reigning champions: Bayern Munich
  • Current First Place: Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich have won three in a row to remain at the top of the Bundesliga with 58 points (18-4-3 record); more recently, Bayern Munich beat Werder Bremen 3-1. The reigning champions have scored 74 goals (best in the league) and allowed 35.

Last weekend, RB Leipzig drew 1-1 against Frankfurt. RB Leipzig come in second place with 54 points (16-6-3 record); they haven’t lost in their last five Bundesliga games.

Wolfsburg come in third place with 48 points; more recently, Wolfsburg beat Schalke 04 5-0. Frankfurt (44 points) and Borussia Dortmund (42 points) complete the Bundesliga top five, but right now, the title race is between Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig.

What About Relegation?

Schalke 04 are doomed. They are in last place with 10 points, 11 points less than Mainz 05 and Hertha Berlin.

Both Koln and Arminia (22 points) are dangerously close to the relegation zone.

Next Weekend Best Games

Arminia will play host to RB Leipzig on Friday. On Saturday, Werder Bremen will play host to Wolfsburg, while Bayern Munich will do the same against Stuttgart.

On Sunday, Hertha Berlin will play host to Bayer Leverkusen.

Odds to Win the Bundesliga Title

Bayern Munich dominate the odds to win the Bundesliga. They went from -1100 to -3300, and they’re followed by RB Leipzig +1400, Borussia Dortmund +10000 and Wolfsburg +15000.

Ligue 1 (France)

  • Reigning champions: PSG
  • Current First Place: LOSC Lille

PSG lost a great opportunity to climb to the Ligue 1 top spot. LOSC Lille drew 0-0 against AS Monaco, but the reigning champions lost to Nantes (1-2); LOSC Lille managed to remain at the top spot with 63 points, while PSG have 60 points.

Lyon (third place) also have 60 points. They come from a 1-1 draw against Reims and they’ll be facing PSG next Sunday.

AS Monaco come in fourth place with 56 points, while Marseille complete the Ligue 1 top five with 45 points.

Last Two

Dijon have lost their last five games, and they’re in last place with just 15 points, 11 points less than Nimes (also in the relegation zone).

Lorient (28 points) and Nantes (27 points) are dangerously close to the relegation zone with nine games to go.

Next Weekend Best Games

Once again, the Ligue 1 action begins on Friday with Saint-Etienne playing host to AS Monaco.

As we already mentioned, Lyon will play host to PSG on Sunday. LOSC Lille will also play on Sunday, at home, against Nimes.

Odds to Win the Ligue 1 Title

No changes here. PSG remain at the top of the odds to win the Ligue 1 with a -600 value. LOSC Lille come next with a +800 value, and they’re followed by Lyon +1000 and AS Monaco +3300.
