Pegula Dismisses Raducanu
Seventh seed Pegula reached her fourth WTA 1000 quarterfinal in 2022 after beating reigning U.S. Open champion Emma Raducanu in straight sets, 7-5, 6-4. This follows after the American reached the semifinals of the National Bank Open in Toronto last week (l. to eventual champion Simona Halep).
Pegula, who currently ranks eighth in the world, received a bye into the second round. In the R32, she was made to work hard for the win. Ukraine’s Maria Kostyuk took the first set before Pegula rallied to take the win in three, 6-7 (5), 6-1, 6-3.

Garcia in Top Form
France’s Garcia is having a stellar summer as she continues her surge back to the top of the WTA rankings. Garcia, once ranked as high as world No. 4, currently sits in 35th place in the WTA rankings.
The 28-year-old was forced to qualify for the Western and Southern Open main draw. This means she’s played two qualifiers and five matches in total to reach the final eight.
In the first round, Garcia defeated Petra Martic in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3. She then took out fourth seed Maria Sakkari in a three-set marathon, 7-6 (2), 6-7 (6), 6-1. Most recently, she took out Elise Mertens in the R16, beating the Belgian 6-4, 7-5.

Pegula vs Garcia Betting Verdict
Both Pegula and Garcia come into Cincy in top form and that makes this a right toss-up for tennis picks as far as the straight-up win is concerned.
Bookmakers are tipping this match in favor of the American at -165. Underscoring Pegula’s odds is the fact that she’s played fewer matches and has home advantage over Garcia.
That said, Garcia owns the most recent meeting between them. She’s also high on confidence after delivering several upsets already. Thus, one can’t put another upset past her.

BetUS sets the total at 21½ with the over at -120. That might be the better play, especially as this match could go three sets if both play up to their potential.
