Europe Rules Over The Dota 2 Berlin Major

At the ESL One Berlin Major 2023, there are plenty of European teams remaining, as all four WEU teams made it to the Playoffs. The four teams — Gaimin Gladiators, Team Liquid, Tundra Esports, and Team OG — also won spots in the Upper Bracket. Additionally, the former Hellraisers, 9Pandas, secured a spot early in the competition. Even though there are still a number of strong prospects, it appears that some EU team will win the Berlin Major.

The first team to stand out is team OG, which consists of Ivan “MinD_ContRoL” Ivanov and Kartik “Kitrak” Rathi as a stand-in. Although joining OG after the Berlin Major is unlikely for MC or Kitrak, it’s still a sight to behold, especially for MC fans. Expectedly, the other WEU participants at Berlin Major are giving their best efforts.

Although Liquid had a minor hiccup against an unexpected opponent, Gaimin, Liquid, and Tundra are no strangers to being formidable opponents. Additionally, 9 Pandas appeared to perform better than they did, coming in second place in their team only to Gaimin. They outperformed Shopify Rebellion and OG and secured a top-3 finish in the process.

Shopify Rebellion is one North American squad that has shied away from the spotlight and achieved an Upper Bracket without drawing much attention. However, they were defeated by their local rivals, the Evil Geniuses, as has become custom. The lower bracket’s EG team made it through two rounds and will now face Talon and OG for a chance at the championship.

PSG was the final team from China and Southeast Asia to reach the playoffs.** Team Aster, Xtreme Gaming, and Talon Esports** are in the lower bracket, and LGD is in the upper bracket.

Having three teams in the Playoffs is not all that horrible considering the Chinese region hasn’t been the most successful in the recent Dota Pro Circuit 2023 (DPC 2023) amid a declining Esports scene and match-fixing concerns. We already said our farewells to PSG and Xtreme, while Aster and Talon remain the least representatives for their respective regions.

As the winners of the Lima Major, Gaimin remains the favorites and top seed in every category. Especially with the recent Patch 7.33 release, 9 Pandas are a difficult opponent to predict, therefore, whomever prevails in that match ought to take home the Major. After EG/Talon and Aster/Liquid finish their runs, Tundra and OG are the European line of defense in the Lower bracket.

Given their roster transfers, we can’t really consider OG’s past performance. In every regard, their fights resemble a coin flip. On the other hand, Tundra ought to triumph over either Aster or Liquid. As we near the final few teams, the ESL One Berlin Major 2023 is becoming more and more festive. The Berlin Major is unquestionably our favorite game this season thanks to tremendous production value and captivating team storylines.
