Kendrick Lamar Did Not Hold Back

Canadian n***a make ’Pac turn in his grave. – Kendrick Lamar

Earlier this month, Drake made hip hop news by practically begging Kendrick Lamar to respond to his diss tracks, which was, honestly, a bad move considering Kendrick Lamar just eviscerated the Drake songs “Push Ups” and “Taylor Made Freestyle” with surgical precision in his new track “Euphoria.”

The ongoing feud between Kendrick Lamar and Drake has captivated the public’s attention for over a decade, and the details could easily be the subject of an entire thesis. However, for now, I’ll just highlight a few noteworthy lyrics from the latest diss track and explain how they tie into the drama and celebrity rumors.

The Title “Euphoria”

It’s obvious that this title is in reference to Drake being a producer on the HBO series Euphoria. I believe the title was chosen in response to Drake’s “Taylor Made” title, as it calls him out for being a hypocrite for being a part of things that aren’t traditionally rapper-esque.

Part I of Lamar’s Diss

In this part, Kendrick basically just rips Drake’s character to shreds with lyrics like:

  • “You movin’ just like a degenerate, heavy antic, it’s feelin’ distasteful”
  • “You not a rap artist, you a scam artist”
  • “Know you a master manipulator, and habitual liar too.”

Part II – Kendrick Gets Specific

  1. “I don’t like you poppin’ s**t, that s**t for real, I inherit the beef / Yeah, f**k all that pushin’ P, let me see you pusha-T / You better off spinnin’ again on him, you think about pushing me / He’s Terrance Thorne, I’m Terrance Crawford, yeah, I’m whooping feet”

Lamar is referencing rapper Tusha T’s beef with Drake that started in 2011 when he dissed Drake on the track “Don’t F*ck With Me.” At the time, pretty much everyone was on Drake’s side. And on the off chance you didn’t know, Terrance Torne is Pusha T’s real name, and Terrance Crawford is a pro boxer so Kendrick Lamar is essentially saying he could easily beat Drake’s ass.

  1. “Somebody had told that me you got a ring, on God, I’m ready to double the wage/ I rather do that, than let a Canadian n***a make ’Pac turn in his grave.”

Kendrick brings up the fact that Drake purchased Tupac Shakur’s crown ring last year and says it would “make Pac turn in his grave.” That ring cost $1 million of Drake’s net worth of $250 million.

This is pretty self-explanatory. He’s saying Drake’s a disgrace to rap.

  1. “Am I battlin’ ghost or A.I.? N***a feelin’ like Joel Austeen / Funny, he was in a film called A.I.”

Kendrick is commenting on Drake’s utilization of artificial intelligence to mimic the voices of Tupac Shakur and Snoop Dogg in the diss “Taylor Made Freestyle.”

It’s honestly astonishing to think that we’re here in 2024 because of a decade-old feud. All because Kendrick decided to call out several rappers on “Control” in 2013. But I’m not complaining; it’s been quite entertaining. Without Drake’s fragile ego and Kendrick Lamar’s immense talent, we wouldn’t have all this drama. Keep it coming!

Personally, I can’t wait to hear Drake’s mid response just so that we can get more Kendrick Lamar songs out of it.
