Bummer…
What was that? “Haddington who?”. Exactly…
In 2023, we shouldn’t be surprised to see X (Formerly Twitter), Tesla, and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk top the media headlines. Whether beefing with Facebook owner Mark Zuckerberg or sharpening his trolling skills, the billionaire funny-man isn’t shy of expressing himself and often welcomes the spotlight, positive or negative.
However, when I saw that Musk was aligned with the latest soccer news and rumors, it was a shock to my system, and I’m not talking about an electrical fault in my Tesla. Don’t pinch yourself or aggressively rub your eyes because I can confirm you aren’t dreaming. Elon Musk’s latest online foe isn’t a major corporation, businessman, or celebrity; it’s Haddington Town!
What was that? “Haddington who?”. Exactly…
How did we get here? Well, the amateur Scottish soccer team claims the Musk-owned SpaceX stole their club’s logo.
Why has @elonmusk stole our badge😂😂😂 give it back! https://t.co/IiytQ4fjXl

SpaceX shared an image of its employees at the Starbase spaceport in Boca Chica, Texas, and the internet blew up as they accused the logo used by Musk’s company was incredibly similar to Haddington Town AFC.
The barely visible logo sat at the summit of the rocket launchpad, consisting of a white goat and an “X” over its shoulder.
What a shame, @elonmusk.

Haddington Town should start by giving their social media team a raise, as they’ve reacted to the soccer news tremendously by capitalizing on the publicity.
2024/25 kit? @elonmusk any thoughts🚀🚀 pic.twitter.com/J2q93elKMP

I don’t enjoy being the bearer of bad news, but no, Elon isn’t buying Haddington Town AFC, despite the latest soccer news confusion. The NY Post, with their top-tier journalism, reported this headline…. ‘Elon Musk buys Scottish soccer team after club claims SpaceX stole its logo’. However, they misunderstood the humor instilled by Haddington’s social team, who had since posted a series of tweets after the logo debacle.
This might surprise the people in the quote tweets
Elon hasn’t bought the club yet. Sorry New York, perhaps you should contact us next time😂😘 https://t.co/6EqtS9Fxr0

Unfortunately, for Scottish soccer fans, this is the most attention they’ll receive in 2023. Celtic’s early exit from the Champions League group stage is up next; I can’t wait.
