The Coppa Italia semifinals are full of intriguing storylines. Dusan Vlahovic will face his former team Fiorentina for the first time as a member of Juventus.

In the other fixture, we’ll get our third Derby della Madonnina of the season as AC Milan takes on rivals Inter Milan in the first of two legs. Coming into Tuesday’s blockbuster match, Inter are the soccer betting favorites.

AC Milan vs Inter Milan Head to Head

This will be the third Derby della Madonnina of the season. The first of two Serie A meetings ended in a 1-1 draw. Most recently, AC Milan defeated Inter 2-1 behind a second-half double from Olivier Giroud.

The last Coppa Italia meeting was last season, when Inter defeated 10-man AC Milan 2-1 with a last-minute Christian Eriksen winner. This has been an even fixture in the last couple of years with no clear edge for betting online. Each side has two wins apiece and a draw in the last five meetings.

AC Milan Fails to Capitalize

Serie A leaders AC Milan have drawn two Serie A matches in a row for the first time since 2020. They’ve had an excellent opportunity to pull away in the title race but have squandered it vs some lower-table sides. Following a 1-1 draw with last place Salernitana, Milan was held by Udinese last Friday.

Rafael Leao scored an excellent opener for the hosts but the Rossoneri couldn’t extend it. Instead, Udinese equalized and the match finished at 1-1. After three days’ rest, Stefano Pioli’s side will be in action again at the San Siro.

Milan only have lost once in 10 matches in 2022 and have outscored their Coppa Italia opponents 7-1. Most recently, the Rossoneri destroyed Lazio 4-0 to move on to the semifinals.

Midfielder Sandro Tonali will be missing for AC Milan as he serves a suspension. Center back Simon Kjaer is out for the season with an ACL tear and Zlatan Ibrahimovic is still having Achilles problems. With Tonali out, expect Ismael Bennacer to start alongside Franck Kessie in midfield.

Leao, in particular, has been in great form and is undroppable at this point. The Portuguese winger is tied with Ibrahimovic as Milan’s joint-leading scorer in Serie A play with eight goals. On Tuesday, he and Giroud will be relied upon.

Inter Can’t Buy a Goal

Inter Milan had an awful February with just one win in six matches and they’ve been shut out in three consecutive matches. The defending Serie A champions still have a very good chance to repeat, but they’ve failed to win their last four Serie A matches and have been one of the most disappointing soccer pick in recent weeks.

On Friday, Inter had 21 shots but couldn’t find a breakthrough in Liguria as they played Genoa to a scoreless draw. That followed a surprising 2-0 loss to Sassuolo and a less surprising 2-0 loss to Liverpool in the first leg of their Champions League Round of 16 tie.

The Nerazzurri have compiled 5.7 expected goals in the last four matches and have shockingly scored just once. Lautaro Martinez is in the middle of a goal drought, as the Argentine forward has failed to score in any of his last nine appearances. Despite struggles on offense, Inter’s defense has been excellent and they’ve only conceded more than two goals on one occasion.

Simone Inzaghi has a mostly healthy squad at his disposal. Robin Gosens, a left-wing back, is yet to feature after making a loan switch from Atalanta due to a hamstring injury. Forward Joaquin Correa has been productive when healthy, but that’s been a rarity this season and he’ll be out for Tuesday’s match.

AC Milan vs Inter Milan Prediction

Inzaghi certainly won’t want to let AC Milan go a third game in a row unbeaten vs his Inter Milan. Yes, Inter haven’t scored for three consecutive matches, but they’ve created a lot of chances.

The goals will eventually come and don’t be surprised if it’s in this match. Inter have typically been better than AC Milan in the last decade, but it’s hard to spot a gulf in quality now. That said, this should be a competitive match and I wouldn’t be surprised to see both teams get on the scoresheet, like in the previous two meetings.

For online gambling, take over 2½ goals and expect an exciting match.

Pick: Over 2½ goals (-125)
