The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets are on the road for their regular-season finale for a date with instate rivals, the No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs. The Bulldogs have one game left to go a perfect 12-0 regular season, but GT has given their rivals trouble in the past.
The Yellow Jackets won outright in 2014 and 2016 as underdogs. But the Bulldogs are a different beast this year; destined for a trip to CFP.
With a 35-point spread, however, it’s hard to imagine the underdog doing much to change the Bulldogs’ championship aspirations.
Georgia Tech on a 0-4 Skid vs Georgia
The Yellow Jackets are no strangers to upsets, as they knocked off North Carolina as three-score underdogs last weekend. GT entered as 21.5-point dogs and won by four over UNC and ending Drake Maye’s run at the Heisman Trophy.
Will the Yellow Jackets pull off another upset as underdogs of 20+ points? Unlikely. Not to take anything away from GT’s big win, but UNC is hardly an apples-to-apples comparison.
UNC ranks outside the top 100 yards in points per play, points per drive, and success rate on defense. Georgia, on the other hand, may have the best defense in the nation.
The real question here is whether Georgia Tech can keep it close. Their ATS record of 5-3 in their last eight games is solid. But the Yellow Jackets are 3-3 ATS in games where they are underdogs of two or more touchdowns. GT is also 1-3 ATS following a win.
We are not in the business of predicting miracles but don’t expect a repeat from last week by GT in this pivotal game for the Bulldogs.
Georgia is One Win Away from Perfection
The Georgia Bulldogs have navigated through tough competition this season, beating two ranked teams. But their toughest test is yet to come.
With LSU waiting in the SEC title game, Georgia better be careful they don’t overlook GT and suffer a heartbreaking loss in Week 13. ‘
I don’t expect such an outcome, but GT could do enough to keep this game close and cover. The Bulldogs don’t need to run up the score here, and 35 ½ points is a significant lead to build if you aren’t trying.
What would motivate the Bulldogs to win by so much in a game they should be taking it easy once a healthy lead is achieved?
If we go by the recent results, the Bulldogs are 4-2 ATS in their previous six games but 0-2 in their last two games as favorites of 22 or greater. Georgia is 5-5 ATS when favored by 20 or more on the season.

Georgia Tech vs Georgia Picks & Prediction
I don’t like the idea of betting against Georgia here, even if the spread is astronomically high. That is because I know the Dawgs can cover this spread if they decide to blow the doors off Georgia Tech.
But why would they? They have a massive game against LSU to stay healthy and prepare for. It makes more sense that they pull some starters after going up by 20 and rest some key players. It’s also a good time to work on some things in real-game situations that you only usually get to run in practice.
We’re not suggesting that Georgia is going to take it easy on GT, only that they may not see a need to win by 35+ points.
With that in mind, the best bet for this game is the total to go over, as has happened in 3 of the last five years.
