Rangers Are On 🔥

We raise a Lone Star longneck to you…

In case you missed the World Series game (judging by the ratings there’s a good chance you did), the Texas Rangers are the MLB’s 2023 champs. Good on the Rangers for winning their first World Series in franchise history.

It gives us an excuse to watch this old-school Nolan Ryan fight video clip on repeat.

This also reminds me of seeing Ryan pitch in person as a kid and watching the star pitcher get ejected for the first time in his career after hitting a batter. Jose Canseco also got thrown out. What a time.

Okay, back to the show.

We’re reaching the holiday season when people mail those lengthy letters full of lies about all the things they accomplished. Consider this long list from the Rangers.

The TLDR version of Texas Rangers news: opened a sweet new ballpark, signed a bunch of dudes including Corey Seager and Jacob deGrom, and won their first-ever World Series.

We raise a Lone Star longneck to you.

No Pressure Rays, Mariners, Padres, Rockies and Brewers

The Rangers’ title means that only five MLB teams remain without a World Series. We’re just sayin’ that we’re looking at you Mariners, Rays, Padres, Rockies, and Brewers.

Time for these squads to step up and follow in ol’ Tex’s boot steps.

But Seriously, Who Is Going to Break the Streak?

According to the BetUS odds, the Braves enter the offseason as the favorites to win the 2024 World Series at +700 with the Astros and Dodgers tied for a close second at +800. Atlanta will need to make sure their bats still work in October this time around for that to happen, but I digress.

Of the teams wearing a Scarlet A without a World Series, the Padres have the best 2024 odds of the bunch at +1600 closely followed by the Rays and Mariners at +1800. So, which team of the group stands the best chance to break the seal and win the World Series?

Time for the Mariners to Slide Into Ohtani’s DMs

I used to live in Seattle, so let’s go with the Mariners. Seattle has one of the best ballparks in the country, but the Mariners also have some serious talent.

Gone are the days of power hitter Chone Figgins (that’s a joke three people will get). Seattle has one of the best players in baseball in Julio Rodriguez.

MLB rumors reveal that Shohei Ohtani spends the offseason in Seattle. Time for the Mariners to slide into the DMs during free agency.

“I’ve actually spent about two offseasons in Seattle, a total of four months maybe,” Ohtani said during the All-Star break in July, per The Seattle Times’ Bob Condotta. “And I felt like it’s a very nice city. I really liked it.”

Back to the Rangers, is Dallas having a moment (Bill Simmons’ voice)? The Rangers won the World Series, the Cowboys are among the top NFC contenders and the Mavericks have a dynamic duo in Luka-Kyrie.

Having just visited the DFW area, the sports scene is ever expanding with PGA moving to Frisco as well as The Star complex where the Cowboys practice.

As Nolan Ryan proved, don’t mess with Texas.
