Change of Scenery? 🗽

“Devin Booker wants to be in New York. That’s what I’m being told,” – Stephen A. Smith

The Phoenix Suns ended their disappointing 2023-24 NBA season less than 24 hours ago, and things could go from worse to way worse soon! According to ESPN analyst, New York Knicks fan, and harsh critic Stephen A. Smith, Devin Booker wants to play with the Knicks!

From what I’m being told … I don’t know if it’ll ever happen … Devin Booker wants to be in New York. That’s what I’m being told,” Smith said on Monday’s episode of First Take. “Now, he might deny it, but I haven’t spoken to him. I’m just telling you the scuttlebutt in NBA circles is that brother wants to be in New York.

A Failed Experiment

Booker’s Suns saw their season end on Sunday night after the Timberwolves beat them 122-116 at home. Minnesota shocked the world after completing a four-game sweep in their first-round series! The Timberwolves were clearly the better team, not just because of their regular season record. But no one expected the Suns to go down without putting up a fight in any of these four NBA games!

The Suns paired Bradley Beal with Devin Booker and Kevin Durant in the offseason, but injuries limited their Big 3’s time playing together, and the rest of the roster was poorly built, lacking significant depth. NBA news outlets witnessed that Booker and Beal, in particular, had a tough time against the Minnesota defense, led by Jaden McDaniels!

The Suns went all-in and their lost bet has left them with no first-round draft picks from 2025 to 2030. Now they must either run it back with Booker, Durant, Beal, and a poorly built roster, or blow things up and rebuild! Booker signed a four-year, $221 million deal in 2022 and it begins next season. This is one of several financial issues that NBA rumors suggest the Suns will face.

The Knicks are always after superstars! Is Booker the one who can help them reach the next level and win an NBA Championship? Booker has had a brilliant career so far and the change of scenery can do wonders for him. He can be the missing piece in New York.

No one can blame the Knicks for trying to add more stars, but they also have major financial decisions regarding both Jalen Brunson and Julius Randle’s futures.

What Are We Doing D-Book?

Booker supposedly asked Squid Game star Hoyeon Jung to check her DMs last week, just as the Suns still battled the Timberwolves in the playoffs! To be fair, I can’t blame him for that, just look at her, I would have done the same.

Was Booker more focused on fixing his love life after seeing his ex, Kendall Jenner hook up with Bad Bunny for less than a year in 2023? I checked the post on Hoyeon Jung’s Instagram and didn’t find anything, and apparently, he never posted that! In any case, it’s not hard to see why Booker would like to play in New York, the city that never sleeps.

The Knicks have cap space and the Eastern Conference is weaker than the West. Plus, the Knicks have a star point guard in Brunson while the Suns relied on him to initiate the offense and we all saw how that worked out. Time will tell if Booker finds a way to take his talents to the Knicks.
