We’re going to be patient…

Though the NBA regular season is still months away, there is news aplenty coming from Summer League in Las Vegas, Nevada. We’re going to go through and discuss some of the biggest NBA rumors that have made the rounds this past week.

Trail Blazers in No Rush to Make Trade

Just when we thought the Damian Lillard trade saga was nearing an end, it appears that we’ll have to wait a little longer. For years, the Portland Trail Blazers guard has been the subject of NBA trade rumors but he’s stuck around because he’s #BuiltDifferent. Lillard is one of the funnest players to watch in the NBA but his storyline is quickly becoming a bore. After finally requesting a trade out of Portland, Lillard has made it clear he wants to go to the Miami Heat.

For their part, the Trail Blazers don’t appear to give a f*ck about making a trade happen anytime soon. “We’re going to be patient,” Blazers GM Joe Cronin said in a recent press conference. “We’re going to do what’s best for our team. We’re going to see how this lands. And if it takes months, it takes months.”

Looks like we aren’t nearing the end of this saga quite yet. Yay…

Victor Wembanyama Done with Summer League

Victor Wembanyama had a dud of a debut at NBA Summer League for the San Antonio Spurs where he scored just nine points. The French phenom was extensively dragged on the NBA news and already gave birth to a viral meme. That’s one thing LeBron James didn’t have to deal with when he was coming in.

Luckily, Wemby bounced back and scored 27 points in his second Summer League game, which should keep the masses at bay for now. Unfortunately, it’s going to be a minute before fans get to see him play again. While he wants to keep playing, the Spurs have made the decision to sit him out for the rest of the Summer League.

It makes sense not to have him risk injury but he was without a doubt the most interesting aspect of Summer League. Now we’ll have to wait until the NBA preseason to see him play again. He’s just lucky he was able to have a good game before he got held out or he’d be getting ripped to shreds for the rest of the offseason.

Chris Paul Not Keen on Coming Off the Bench

One of the most surprising moves of this NBA offseason was Chris Paul getting traded to the Golden State Warriors after getting traded to the Washington Wizards. Both Paul and Stephen Curry play point guard so it’ll be interesting to see how Steve Kerr utilizes them. Paul coming off the bench might not be the best option.

A fan recently asked him if he could be coming off the bench. In a subtle, Paul essentially said, “F*CK NO.” “You coaching?” Pau’ asked the fan. “I don’t know what the situation gonna be yet. So I think that’ll be for us to figure out once we get going.”

That doesn’t sound like a man who is eager to make a run at Sixth Man of the Year next season.
