I am happy that [Rodgers’] not going to be in my mentions going forward. – Pat McAfee
The enemies of fun have won…for now. Pat McAfee announced on his Pat McAfee Show that Aaron Rodgers won’t be a guest on his show for the rest of the 2023 NFL season.
Now, I think a lot of people are going to blow this out of proportion but that’s the society we live in. Right now, it’s not clear if Rodgers will be back on the show at some point. It certainly sounds like he will be but who knows.

The whole Pat McAfee ESPN deal obviously complicates things. Rodgers has been at the center of a number of controversies for a few years now that started with his thoughts on the COVID-19 vaccine to him suggesting that Jimmy Kimmel was going to be on Jeffrey Epstein’s list.
Look, I’m not in favor of wrongfully accusing people of being perverts but can we at least agree Kimmel stopped being funny a decade ago? What’s really interesting is whether or not this was a McAfee decision or an ESPN decision.
What he did say was: “There will be a lot of people who are happy with that, myself included to be honest with you. The way it ended, it got really loud. I am happy that he’s not going to be in my mentions going forward, which is great news.”
We’ve given a lot of people who have been waiting for us to fail a lot of ammo the last week..

Kimmel is employed by ABC, which is owned by Disney, which also owns ESPN. McAfee recently started calling out ESPN executive Norby Williamson and now he has Rodgers calling out Kimmel on his show.
Perhaps ESPN decided to put some pressure on McAfee to pause the Rodgers interviews for now. We’ll just have to see how long it lasts. I honestly don’t know why people are so pressed about Rodgers. I’ve interviewed dozens of athletes and most of the time they speak in cliches and don’t have anything interesting to say.
At least Rodgers gives us good content to write about and keeps the NFL news cycle going. The Jets QB was pretty uncontroversial prior to 2020 so it seems weird that he’s public enemy No. 1 of the media. At the end of the day, are we really that mad that Rodgers is pissing off rich people? One thing we can say about Rodgers is that he doesn’t punch down on the little guy. Most of his issues are with the rich elites, which is something I can at least respect even if I don’t agree with everything he says.
The New York Jets and ESPN have an Aaron Rodgers problem.
ESPN can solve theirs by firing Pat McAfee.
The New York Jets are just fucked.

I’m not really a big McAfee guy. I met him at the Pro Bowl last year and he seems like a really nice guy and was generous with his time but I’m just not into his show. That said, I get the appeal but Rodgers was one of the biggest selling points of his show. He’ll be fine but I’m curious to see if the star quarterback will be back in time for next season.
I highly doubt this has anything to do with McAfee being upset with Rodgers. He doesn’t strike me as someone who is easily offended. I’m sure Rodgers will want to share his side of things if this situation becomes a big deal.
