Magical Messi 🎩
In Paris and Miami, he’s provided nothing more than fan hype…
The God-given talents of Lionel Messi have done it again, as the Argentinian soccer legend picked up yet another award last night when securing the FIFA Best Men’s Player trophy for the eighth time in 15 years.
Messi and Manchester City striker Erling Haaland tied in points in the FIFA Best poll. However, Messi secured the award after receiving more first-place votes from international team captains.

Does Messi Deserve the Best FIFA Men’s Player Award?
The result has sparked an outcry from Man City fans, and most soccer fans in general, to be honest. Do I believe Messi was deserving? Honestly, no. And if you’re a familiar face around here, you’ll know how I feel about this man’s talents. But we’re now awarding 2024 awards for achievements in 2022? What’s up with that?
This nonsense has to stop.

I’ll keep it real; he ought not to have prevailed as the victor. I do believe he was the greatest footballer of the last two decades, but in Paris and Miami, he’s provided nothing more than fan hype.
The header title of this article states how Messi became the first MLS player to win the Best Award, but the sad reality is that he’s achieved nothing to write home about at a club or world level since December 2022. Meanwhile, Haaland was the most decisive player for Manchester City as they lifted the Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League trophies in 2023.
Haaland not winning a single award after winning all this has to be one the biggest robberies in football history. pic.twitter.com/t60ImAmgX5

Ronaldo Should Have Voted
As a team captain of Portugal, Cristiano Ronaldo – a long-term rival in the G.O.A.T status alongside Messi – had the option to vote on the deciding winner last night. However, CR7 opted out; instead, Pepe voted for Bernardo Silva…
All Ronaldo had to do was vote for Haaland, and we’d be looking at different soccer news headlines today.
I just noticed that Ronaldo, as the actual captain of Portugal, didn’t want to give a vote, instead Pepe voted and he chose Bernardo Silva. If Ronaldo had voted for Haaland, Messi wouldn’t have received the “The Best” award. Too funny 😂 pic.twitter.com/nH2f5r4LLy

That being said, perhaps it was an intelligent decision from the Al-Nassr star after all. Just think about it: there is widespread criticism on social media directed at Messi and FIFA due to his award collection last night. Now, we’re becoming aware of the extent of the corruption.
Chess move of the year by Ronaldo? The rolling theme in soccer headlines today is spreading Messi’s hate behind the opinion that he’s an undeserving winner.
