Valentine’s Day Massacres on Nine-Game Card?

Less than 24 hours after the Super Bowl, the NBA has put together a nine-game Monday slate right in time for Valentine’s Day. And like the livers and brain cells of many Super Bowl party-goers, the  NBA betting odds are predicting a beatdown for at least four matchups, including three with double-digit favorites.

Detroit Pistons vs Washington Wizards

Two non-playoff teams collide as the Detroit Pistons visit the Washington Wizards. Detroit has two wins in its last 15 games (6-9 against the spread (ATS) and Washington has two in its last 11. Winning is not a priority here, though the new-look Wizards have a bit more firepower. The last six games between these teams went under while in Washington.

Oklahoma City Thunder vs New York Knicks

With a 10-point spread, the New York Knicks are price a their largest as favorites in 2022. New York is 10-10 ATS as a home favorite and is just 1-4 ATS when favored by eight or more points. The Oklahoma City Thunder remains a profitable team to bet online as an underdog. It is 19-10 ATS as a road dog.

Sacramento Kings vs Brooklyn Nets

The Sacramento Kings are rare favorites on the road as they visit the ailing Brooklyn Nets. Sacramento is 3-3 ATS as a road favorite while Brooklyn has lost 10 straight games and has covered just one of its last 11 home games. Even before its injuries, Brooklyn has been terrible at home and has the worst cover rate in the league: 20 percent (5-20-1 ATS).

Portland Trail Blazers vs Milwaukee Bucks

Here is a beatdown in the making: The Milwaukee Bucks host the Portland Trail Blazers as the second-biggest favorite on the BetUS online sportsbook.  The last time Milwaukee played Portland, it crushed the Blazers by 29 points. The Bucks are coming from a three-day rest where it is just 4-5 ATS, though eight of its 12 wins against the worst five teams in the NBA were by 15 or more points.

Toronto Raptors vs New Orleans Pelicans

The Toronto Raptors saw their eight-game winning streak snapped as Denver Nuggets superstar Nikola Jokic stuffed a last-second putback attempt. Toronto is right back at it with a visit to the New Orleans Pelicans, who have dropped two straight. The Raptors have covered five straight road games and the Pelicans have just one win in 13 games against the Atlantic Division.

San Antonio Spurs vs Chicago Bulls

Winners of two straight, the rebuilding San Antonio Spurs visit their former star, DeMar DeRozan, and the Chicago Bulls. Chicago is still dealing with injuries but has won three straight. The over has cashed in eight of Chicago’s last 10 games and five of San Antonio’s last six against the Central Division. As such, the total is the highest for the evening.

Orlando Magic vs Denver Nuggets

Can the Orlando Magic snap its winless streak against Jokic and the Denver Nuggets in the Mile High City? Denver has covered four straight games and is 8-2 ATS in its last 10, though it is just 9-11 ATS as a home favorite. Orlando actually has a winning record as a visiting underdog: 17-15-0 ATS (53.1 percent cover rate).

Houston Rockets vs Utah Jazz

The largest spread )14½) belongs to the Utah Jazz as they host the Houston Rockets. Houston made a few deadline deals but nothing too crazy, while Utah may have star center Rudy Gobert back in the mix. The Jazz were upset by the Rockets the last time they met at the Vivint Arena. Houston is 4-2 ATS in their last six meetings against Utah.

Golden State Warriors vs Los Angeles Clippers

The Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Clippers meet for the third time, with Golden State winning both games. Both are struggling on the spread lately with Golden State at 0-4-1 ATS and the Clippers at 1-5 ATS. The total is likely to go over, as four of Golden State’s last six have.
