The Knicks are a good team but have been getting roughed up a bit in Eastern Conference play. They suffered back-to-back losses to the Milwaukee Bucks and Boston Celtics last week, their first consecutive losses since the start of the season. While the Knicks consider themselves contenders in the East, the final scores suggest otherwise, especially for the Bucks game. The future NBA odds also disagree, with New York +5000 to win the NBA championship and +2200 to win the East.

The Knicks also have a tough road ahead, with the Suns, Clippers, and Lakers on the schedule starting this weekend.

Then, we have the Jazz. They are the weakest team on the recent schedule and the easiest team the Knicks will face between now and Dec. 27 at Oklahoma City.

Does that mean the Knicks will go off on a weaker team or will they suffer a look-ahead loss? They may choose to rest some stars in this spot with such a gauntlet in the near future.

The scoring is there, but with starting center Mitchell Robinson out for 8-10 weeks, I worry about the Knicks banging down low. The Jazz rank fourth in the NBA in rebounds per game at 50.1 and could make this game challenging for New York in the paint.

The NBA odds list the Knicks as six-point favorites, but this has all the signs of a letdown game for New York. They are coming off a big division win, are playing a weaker opponent sandwiched between many tough games, and are on the road.
