Keep ‘Em Coming!

Who doesn’t love a good creamsicle and winking Bucco Bruce combo?

This season we are in the golden era of teams reintroducing their throwback jerseys. NFL news reveals that the Seahawks are the latest to unveil new (old) uniforms.

Former NFL star JJ Watt has already weighed in on crowning the Seahawks as the top throwback uniforms. Fans will be able to see these during NFL games for Week 8. NFL rumors are sure to spark speculation about additional throwback uniforms for 2024.

Here is our breakdown of the rankings for the top NFL throwback uniforms.

1. Seattle Seahawks

Mr. Watt has impeccable taste and these Seahawks throwback jerseys go hard. In particular, it is the old-school Seahawks logo with the green stripe that is an improvement from the current look.

The current Seattle uniforms are also pretty epic, but the royal blue combined with the silver pants and helmets should make this look an annual tradition. It also helps that the Seahawks went full 90s with the uniform reveal teaser complete with players eating Eggo waffles.

2. Houston Titans (Oilers)

This is a bit of an interesting one because Houston now has the Texans after the Oilers moved to Nashville. Let’s stick with the uniforms because these Oilers throwbacks have the perfect baby blue color scheme.

BRB going to go watch Earl Campbell highlights on repeat.

3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Who doesn’t love a good creamsicle and winking Bucco Bruce combo? The only problem is the Bucs were downright dreadful with these uniforms in the 1970s and 1980s. Tampa Bay also wet the bed against the Lions earlier this season during the reintroduction of the throwbacks.

Maybe it was fitting because Buccaneers fans felt like going back to the era of putting paper bags over their heads. These orange jerseys have me hungry for one of those Creamsicle pops.

4. Philadelphia Eagles

Honestly, I think the current hunter-green Eagles uniforms are pretty dreadful. Can someone please explain why the Kelly green jersey and helmets are not permanent? Also, the slightly silver pants are an amazing addition as well.

Give me the old-school Eagles logo as icing on the cake. ALL DAY.

5. Dallas Cowboys (Honorable Mention)

These are not new this season but the throwback Cowboys uniforms are their best version. The white helmets combined with the stars on the shoulders are epic and immediately will have you hungry for Thanksgiving.

There are several versions of the Cowboys throwback jerseys but I am partial to the brighter blue joints that were worn during the NFL 75th anniversary season (shoutout to Emmitt Smith). You may also know them from the “Little Giants” movie.

Qs From Our Readers

Are throwback jerseys back in style?

The NFL has changed the rules to allow teams to wear multiple helmets. This has allowed more teams to adopt their throwback jerseys as alternates for 2023.

What is considered a throwback jersey?

This is a bit subjective but it feels like the “youngest” throwbacks are from the 1990s with some throwback uniforms being even older.

What is the C on NFL players' uniforms?

The C on NFL jerseys stands for captain.

Why are some NFL jerseys more expensive?

This is a good question. Since the NFL jerseys switched to Nike the improved quality of the replicas fans can buy. On average, NFL jerseys range from $100 to $150 for purchase by fans.
