Lay Points with Lakers vs Reeling Nets

Everything is going wrong with the Brooklyn Nets with only four wins in the last 19 games. That could be the perfect matchup for the Los Angeles Lakers to be a best bet in the NBA tonight as the home team might be regaining momentum.

In the Nets’ last game, they suffered their second loss against the Portland Trail Blazers during a four-game losing streak. They lost in overtime on the road 105-103. On the other hand, the Lakers have beaten playoff teams at home for their last two wins, beating the Dallas Mavericks 127-110.

ATS Pick: Lakers -7

There was some growing concern for the Lakers in NBA betting. Since winning the In-Season Tournament on Dec. 9, the Lakers have gone 7-12. That has brought up a lot of concerns about the team and what needs to change to help them get back on track.

Before the last two wins, it looked like the Lakers were starting to turn a corner. They lost to the Utah Jazz 132-125 with LeBron James sitting on the bench, but Anthony Davis and D’Angelo Russell came up big. Russell scored 39 while Davis had 15 points, 15 rebounds, and 11 assists.

Los Angeles beat the Oklahoma City Thunder, a potential home-court advantage team in the playoffs, 112-105. Davis scored 27 points while James added 25 in his return to the court.

Finally, against the Mavericks, everything seemed to click. Both Davis and James fell narrowly short of triple-doubles, while Russell led the team in scoring with 29. James had 25 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists, while Davis was 28-12-9.

If this is how the Lakers stars will play, it will be hard not to include them in NBA picks.

Over/Under Pick: Under 227

Even with how the Lakers’ offense has been playing recently, this game’s over/under NBA lines could hit the under. Despite the Lakers winning their last two games, both have hit the under as they have played great defense, holding two elite offenses under 110 points.

Brooklyn does not have an elite offense, and it has been even worse since this slump that started about five weeks ago. The Nets only have four wins since Dec. 11 and a 4-15 record, with an offensive rating of 111.7, which is the sixth worst in the league.

Given how the Nets have played, it seems like the best chance this game has of hitting the over is if the Lakers blow out the Nets. The under is a solid betting option.

Player Prop Pick: Anthony Davis Over 3.5 assists (-113)

After the last two games Davis has had, it almost feels hard not to back him in prop bets. His scoring has been excellent, but for this game, let’s look at his surprise rise in assists. Davis has averaged 2.4 assists for his career and 3.7 this season, but he has had five or more in four of the last five games. The Lakers seem to be starting to ask him to do more with his playmaking, which should continue against the Nets.

Questions of the Day

Which Lakers player will be the MVP of the game?

Over these last two wins, it is hard not to say that Davis has taken over as the best player on the Lakers and should look to continue to play at that level.

Which team will finish higher in the standings?

Since the Nets have fallen off a cliff, they have not looked like a playoff team while the Lakers have shown flashes of being able to sneak in.
