Why Bettors Can Entertain Cavaliers’ NBA Title Hopes

The Cleveland Cavaliers don’t have an easy run to the title, but upsets can happen in the NBA.

NBA odds have the Cavaliers at +6000 odds to win the NBA championship, so they’re at the longest odds of the eight remaining teams.

However, despite playing the Boston Celtics next up, there is value with the Cavaliers at the big price and we look at three reasons why.

Mitchell Firing in Playoffs

Donovan Mitchell is a key part of the Cavaliers, and needs to continue living up to his potential if they want any chance of winning.

He caught fire against the Orlando Magic in the first round, scoring 50 points in Game 6 and 39 points in Game 7, which won them the game.

The 27-year-old was the big signing when he came to Cleveland in the wake of the LeBron James/Kyrie Irving era, and has lived up to expectations.

He might not have superstars around him, but he’s doing everything in his power to get the job done.

This is why I’m here, it’s my job,’’ Mitchell said. “It’s why there’s an expectation on myself. I deserve the criticism as much as the praise. For me, it’s just continue to be level-headed. I did my job, that’s it. I did my job, and I gotta continue to do my job for us to continue to advance.

Mitchell is right. He needs to keep doing his job, and he’s the biggest reason why the Cavaliers could score a massive upset.

Here’s a look at some NBA Odds to consider!

A Key Supporting Cast: Garland, LeVert and Mobley

It’s not all about Mitchell for the Cavaliers, who desperately need the supporting cast to step up.

The Cavaliers can’t win an NBA title on Mitchell alone, so Darius Garland, Caris LeVert, and Evan Mobley need to rise to the occasion.

Garland is a great secondary scorer on his day, but needs to be more consistent over the course of the NBA Finals. Otherwise, the Cavaliers could struggle to score enough points, especially against the Celtics in the next round.

Losing Jarrett Allen hurts, but Mobley has picked up the slack. He’s good for a double-double at his best, and is good enough to control the center position.

They also have LeVert, who was once a dynamic scorer. If he gets back to his brilliant best, he could be an important player for the Cavaliers.

The roster is good enough to justify taking +6000, which is a huge line from our sportsbook.

Coming Through a Tough Series

Having beaten the Magic 4-3 could galvanize the Cavaliers, and they have a better team atmosphere than many NBA clubs.

Coach J.B. Bickerstaff has created a good culture in Cleveland, and although this franchise has had success in the past, they needed James and Irving to get the job done.

There is no James or Irving in this team, but there is a strong team dynamic, and that can overcome even the NBA’s best.

They face the Celtics next, who have stars in every direction, but that’s not to say the Cavaliers can’t measure up.

Bickerstaff is fighting for his job, and with every win the Cavaliers get, the safer his job becomes. We think he has done a great job, and if they get past the Celtics, the sky’s the limit.

Because the odds are so generous, the Cavaliers are worth including in NBA futures picks.
