The Smoking Stunt

Jake Paul is smoking cigarettes ahead of his upcoming boxing bout with Nate Diaz.

Incredible, how can such a star-studded athlete evolve into one of the world’s greatest boxers and still puff on the cancer sticks? It’s time to put some respect on Jake Paul’s boxing career, he’s truly an inspiration to kids worldwide, and nobody will stop this man.

Oh, wait a minute, he’s already lost to Tommy Fury. Scratch that. What I meant was; anyone who isn’t an aging retired MMA fighter and has a boxing background will stand a chance of stopping him. But this sentiment doesn’t involve Nate Diaz because he fits the criteria of Paul’s route to success perfectly.

Paul will never be taken seriously due to the above antics, and I’m shocked to see certain news outlets taking the boxing news and rumors regarding him smoking seriously. It’s obviously a meme and undeniably a dig at Diaz, but it’s a sh*t one. It is added evidence that without his strong social media following, nobody would give two f*cks about Paul’s boxing tenure.

Diaz has long been an advocate for the cannabis industry. Well, perhaps I’m overstepping the mark; he’s just renowned for smoking a lot of weed and hasn’t shied away from his consumption. It’s clear that Paul is attempting to mock him by smoking cigarettes while training, as Diaz has previously lit a phat one at his open workouts.

But if that’s the best Jake Paul has, he should probably return to YouTube, brush off the camera rust, and practice his comedy – nobody above the age of 10 found it amusing.

And realistically, does anybody even care about this fight? I certainly don’t. I enjoy watching Diaz in the octagon, and I don’t get much joy from watching Paul box whatsoever. The hype of Paul’s boxing career died when he suffered defeat to an actual boxer. Unless he rectifies this loss with a similar style of matchmaking, it’s difficult to envision combat sports aficionados giving a crap about his success over MMA fighters way beyond their prime fighting years.
