Magic ATS Top Play vs Grizzlies

While the Orlando Magic (23-21) have dealt with brutal stretch of late, losing six of eight games, they face a shorthanded Memphis Grizzlies (17-27) team who has struggled mightily at home this season on Friday night. The Magic head to FedExForum to face an injury-riddled Grizzlies group with a game that’s set to tip at 8 p.m. ET. The betting lines for NBA feature the Magic as a 6-point favorite and the total checks in at a low 212½.

Of Friday’s slate of NBA games, there may be no matchup with a stranger “edge” that helps to push toward tonight’s NBA basketball picks. The Grizzlies are just 4-15 at home straight up and 5-14 ATS when playing at FedExForum. That bodes well for a Magic team that has the same defense-first focus as Memphis, and should be able to put a tally in the win column, as this is a great matchup for the road team.

Magic vs Grizzlies Odds and Spread

  • The over has hit in just 5 of the Grizzlies’ last 19 home games

  • Magic are 14-9 ATS in road games this season
  • The over has hit twice in the last five games for the Magic
  • The Grizzlies are just 5-14 ATS on their home floor this season
  • Orlando is 14-9 ATS on the road this year
  • The Magic are 10-3 ATS as a favorite
  • The over has hit in 10 of the Magic’s last 23 road games this season

Magic vs Grizzlies Over/Under Pick: Under 212½

Both the Orlando Magic and Memphis Grizzlies continue to rely heavily on their defense currently amid a mixture of offensive struggles and injuries (for Memphis, specifically). Orlando ranks sixth in defensive rating while the Grizzlies check in at No. 11 overall in the NBA, but Memphis is last in the NBA in offensive rating, which is understandable after injuries to Ja Morant, Marcus Smart, Steven Adams and Desmond Bane, among others.

These two teams are simply struggling to score the ball, and have issues clearing the 100-105 point mark, while almost never topping 110 points in the most recent stretch of the season. I like the under here, as I think both teams will once again lean on defense.

Magic vs Grizzlies ATS Pick: Magic -6

While the Grizzlies have managed to pull out some road wins recently, showing impressive resilience of late after the slew of injuries, they’ve actually been a far better team on the road than at home. Memphis is 5-14 ATS at home this season, and they’re facing a team whose strength replicates their own (defense), and the Magic have been better on that end. I’m taking Orlando to win by double-digits in an interesting but strong NBA betting trend.

Magic vs Grizzlies Player Prop Pick: Magic’s Paolo Banchero Over 7½ Rebounds (+102)

While Paolo Banchero is a power forward in title only, he’s capable of playing all over the floor but still leads the team in rebounds per game. Now, he draws a matchup with a Grizzlies team that’s allowed the sixth-most rebounds per game to opposing power forwards (and fourth-most to small forwards, for that matter). I love this spot for Banchero to feast on the boards and clear this total.

Questions Of The Day

Which player on the Magic or Grizzlies will be the biggest difference maker statistically?

Magic forward Paolo Banchero leads the team in points, rebounds, and assists per game. He should have a big game against Memphis.

Who’s the top player to target for points on the Grizzlies with all their injuries?

In the recent two wins by the Grizzlies, Vince Williams Jr. and Jaren Jackson Jr. have been the most consistent and reliable offensive options.
