San Antonio Spurs Favored vs Cleveland Cavaliers | Betting Preview | March 19

Bet on NBA

The San Antonio Spurs have won three of their last four, and are currently ranked seventh in the Western Conference. The Spurs are winners in two straight road games, after getting smacked 134-99 by the Eastern Conference-leading Philadelphia 76ers. Most recently, San Antonio battled back to beat the Chicago Bulls in Chicago 106-99, asserting dominance in an explosive fourth quarter.

The Cleveland Cavaliers are coming off of a sweet victory of their own, having held off the Boston Celtics 117-110. Guards Collin Sexton and Darius Garland led the way for the Cavs, scoring 29 and 25 points, respectively. The Celtics fought furiously in the second half, but Cleveland stood toe to toe with Boston, earning the tough win.

Our sportsbook shows San Antonio as a moderate favorite vs Cleveland on March 19, according to the updated NBA odds. The Spurs do appear to be the better team overall, and the Cavaliers are missing several key players. This is the beauty of online sports betting though, isn’t it? Let’s identify at least one winning pick for this matchup.

Cavs’ Depleted, Drummond Awaits Trade Destination

Cavaliers’ veteran center Andre Drummond is still riding the pine, as he awaits a decision regarding where he’s being traded. A deal with the Raptors is reported to have fallen apart because the Cavs were asking too much (Norman Powell). Drummond typically averages a double-double, and is one of the top rebounders in the league. Cleveland is not postseason material this year, and will probably be selling off more than Drummond before the trade deadline. The Cavaliers have also been decimated by injuries all season. PF Kevin Love finally returned to the court after a 33-game absence, only to be MIA again following calf soreness. Taurean Prince is also out.

The Cavs are eager to move a few pieces and hit reset, looking forward to a brighter 2022 season. Cleveland has an intriguing young core of players, and should be formidable in the coming years. The win against Boston was pretty impressive, but it was also a bit of a fluke.

Prior to the victory over the Celtics, the Cavaliers lost three games by an average of 22 points. Cleveland kept it closer vs the mid-grade playoff caliber teams from the East, but the West is a different matter. For example, the sub-.500 New Orleans Pelicans (17-24) smashed the Cavaliers 116-82 on March 12. Cleveland is just 4-13 against the West this season (.235 win %), and San Antonio is surging right now.
